1999 Honda Civic Show Car

Recommended Posts

I have a 1999 Honda Civic. I have several goals. My first goal is to make an 8 second quarter mile car. My second is to make an engine that will last the repetitive beating that an 8 second quarter mile would put the engine through. I have decided to go with a DART aftermarket Block to begin the build. but I am not sure whether to go with the 211.5 mm deck height B18 block or to go with the 226 mm B20 Block height. I have determined for sure that I intend to go with the 84.5 mm bore steel sleeves that are provided. Some insight into which is an easier build and has more parts available to bring such and engine to 750+ whp would be great. also some insight into what would be the best brands and model number part to use would be great information. I am new to this import tuner world.

As for the head of the engine I have decided to again go with the DART Aftermarket head and send it in for porting but again I have no idea what parts and different valves to use with porting nor any idea how far to have the engine ported and still maintain a stable head.

Next as far as the ECU is concerned I have decided to go with the AEM EMS aftermarket ECU replacement.

On to the TRANSMISSION. For the Transmission I have decided to go with the IPT Aftermarket High Performance Transmission.

If anyone has some better ideas or better routes to take to achieve the maximum performance please let me know.

Well first of all your going to have to do major body work like complete light weighting not street gutting like removeing rear seats but extending the chassy so the back of the car does not drop resulting in loss of grip which if your looking for a 8 second run wit 750hp you better hook or all your goining to see at the line is smoke and try using a strong block like if your going wit b-series use a b20 or maybe if you going to be like every one else use a ls block or h-series use h23

ok well as I said I am new to this what all would I need to do to light weight the car? and should I add weight at the front to increase traction?

street legal? lol why do I care? I would drive a car that isnt street legal on the streets anyway, I am getting pretty good at avoiding 5-0. as for tread toyo Proxies 4 series is what I am using currently

lol okay guy, obviously if there is a del sol with only 630hp that is spinning slicks.. SLICKS.. then you will not grip with street tires.. i can just see it now..

you drive along, all of a sudden *WOOP WOOP* "aww sh!t my nigg its 5-0 sonn, i bouts to dip on these pigs yo!" go around a corner and floor it "aww sh!t nigg understeer, too much power homes it dont grip, sh!t sh!t sh!t sh!t sh!t" *BOOM BOOM KERTHUNK KASMACK CRUNCH* "aww sh!t nigg i just wrecked my mad fast 8 second 700hp honda yo, fcukin 5-0 gonna take me to jail dawg"

lol ^ got it in one!

Fair enough you've got the will to make a real fast Honda, but you're dreaming a bit I think. Never always a bad thing though. Just don't go thinking about having it as a road car as well.

the intent is Roush street Chicago. which if driving the speed limit is a 1:45-2:00 hour drive. I want to race and make my money back. thats the intent so some help on how to achieve wins and cash would be appreciated. and for the guy with the I can see it now thing. I would accelerate let off the gas yank the en brake as I turn and then accelarate upon straightening out. I have a nice vacant parking lot that is very huge that I practice drifting front wheel drives in across the street from my house.

OK now back to my question what would you guys put into the engine to create such a horsepower? I am used to muscle not tuner work and I didnt even know a 4 cyclinder could make that high a horsepower. A friend said I could do it for under $20,000, plus throw in some TIEN MonoFlex suspension. A Brembo Brig Brake kit Cross Drilled. RC 1200cc/min Fuel Injectors, AEM high volume fuel rail, HIGH volume chrome steel fuel rails, a Walbro High volume fuel Pump. Eagle Light Wieght 94mm Crankshaft, Eagle rods. JE Pistons at a 9.2:1 Compression, Ferrea Camsshafts, AEM TRU Time Cams, Greddy Extreme Timing chains.Edelbrock Turbo kit, P1 BUDDY CLUB TITANIUM VALVES, Un orthodox lightweight pulley set a 2mm buddy club head Gasket, ARP head Bolts. TOGA High Volume Oil Pump. a Z10 Wet Sump Oil Pan, AND THE BRAINS an AEM EMS aftermarket usb programmable ECU. a Carbon Fibre Head Cover and a few other things that I cant seem to remember off hand. Does this sound like a setup that will work?

No, that setup will not work at all.

You have 0 experience.

This will end up being a $20000 hunk of scrap

Why don't you start with something reasonable and work your way up from there?

No one successfully builds a 700 hp car from something that started at 140 as their first import project.

You don't have a clue what you are doing otherwise you would not be asking for help on an extremely expensive project from a random internet forum.

That leads me to believe this thread is one of two things:

#1 You recently won the lottery, trust fund matured or windfall from an estate and the money is burning a hole in your pocket and you want to look all special and badass in an fast/expensive car.

#2 (most likely) You are a troll.

first off, i see your going big, but a front wheel drive car with that much power as a DD, forget it. i watch mustangs, vipers, even ferarris/lambos struggle as a DD with sub 600hp. your going to need huge slicks to even keep PART of your traction. youll spin the tires in every gear. if this is your first import 4 cyl build, dont go this big. you will regret it. if you plan runing 8 seconds quarters, youll most likely need a full roll cage, chute, full race gear for driver. youll need a very high octane fuel or methanol injection. launch bars will probably be a must. and Xeryon is right, if you are doing a build like this then you should know absolutely what you need to do. you shouldnt be asking a random forum for advice. you would have already figured all this out with a complete crew. so ok here it is. post pics or get banned. something like this is taken as a joke pretty much. but i gave the advice i could...oh and ifyou havent piloted a 8 second car before....youll need a serious driver mod.

and what your talking about is NOT a show car.

Id swap a gsr in, a few bolt ons and a tune - and with 15 or so grand in the bank id sit back and relax and know... i didnt blow my money on, in your case a project that would turn out to be a poorly tuned ricer civic

i hate this thread.

umm FWD doesnt drift.. they powerslide.

id love to see you waste your money on this, a 700hp honda.. youll need new tires every month, there is no way in hell youre making your money back.. i would refer you to buying a mitsu evo 9 or 10 if you wanted to be faster and have the traction to pull out of a dig but i dont want to see an evo trashed like that, i have too much respect for evo's..
