h22aAccord1993
I am thinking of getting a civic hatch but I dont know what year to get is there a certain year that would hold up great to k20 motor swap?
frostedflake
i would go with the EG.(92-95). it is a really good platform for any kind of swap. my buddy is getting ready to put an H22A in his, I cant wait, its gonna be a beast.

frostedflake
IDK, personally, I favor the EG6 because the back of the EK sticks out too far. It makes it look un-proportionate. The EK is also a longer car. I guess it's all a mater of personal opinion.

alex37211
Face facts. 92-95 is the lightest in weight, therefore, you will go faster, handle better, and brake shorter. eg ftw

I'm almost positive the 88-91 hatches weigh less than an EG.
alex37211
Really? I'm almost positive the 88-91 hatches weigh less than an EG. Okay, I guess it depends on trim level. They are VERY close. Pballer2005
how much comfort do you want with that swap because those light little hatches don't have anything in the line of luxury.
alex37211
He's right. Put it in a prelude. ...but seriously though, I think hasport actually came out with a mount kit for that.

They're close sure, but the 4th gens weigh less. Anybody check what the 3rd gens weigh? I would bet even less than the 4th.

jerrodh
He's right. Put it in a prelude. ...but seriously though, I think hasport actually came out with a mount kit for that. Hasport would probably make a mount for anything if you asked nicely lol. They got mounts for everything, and sweet ones to boot. Prelude with a k20 seems like a waste when the h22 is an option or standard in them and for a fraction of the cost. Surely the much newer k20 with the right mods will roll all over the h22, but h22 is far from a bad start for a nice build either. Anyway, I'd honestly just say get the 01-03 Si so you dont even have to bother with the swap. If you put the money you'd likely spend on the swap for an EG (especially if your not doing your own work) it might even be cheaper lol.
Nancy
if youre gonna swap a k20 in a civic hatch id go with a 96-00 hatch. just because the hasport mount kit will bolt right in. if you were to swap a k20 in a 92-95 civic cutting the tranny side mount out is required. ..SSR..
96-98 lighter than 99-00 Getting the weight down to sub 2,000 isn't a problem if you're good with cars. longer wheelbase than ITR, stiffer than 92-95. It's Mr. Spoons favorite chassis for a reason...
h22aAccord1993
ok guys thanks but two things I said civic hatch for I reason, and I already have and accord with an h22 but it isnt a vtech but i might buy a civic hatch w/o motor or tranny and swap in my h22 and sell the accord just to save money and do some mods to it.
