rexcellent Posted December 16, 2005 Share Posted December 16, 2005 Yup I picked up a 1993 Si, I wanted the vtec but i settled for the 2.3. its silver all stock except for a k and n cold air intake. i plan to fix all the little flaws in the body like key marks and dings, surface rust. the interior is mint ashtrays have never been used no rips or burns. engine runs awsome. i was thinking about turbo but i think i am going to just go for a decent header, full exhaust, bodykit, new paint, and some wheels. I am right in love with preludes now they are an excellent car. as you all know but i just wanted to let all the good people on the forum know that i got a prelude and i promise to take good care of it. happy holidays Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I had just been hangin out with them and they loved the prelude especially james the one i was really close friends with so out of respect to my friend i am going to dedicate the build of the prelude to him. I have decided on lowering springs progress or skunk2, an R34 full skyline kit, one piece projector headlights, tails, pacesetter catback, punching the cat out, either a DC sports or a Chikara header, anodized valve cover and whatever things i can do to dress up the engine bay, window tint, the car is silver so i was thinking if i put metalic blue racing stripes over it it would look a lot like the skyline in 2fast2furious, i dunno tho i think it would be sick and james would like it. i'd like to get some 19" wheels but I am not that rich i could settle for 18's even 17's but i will be sure to post pics of the build come spring time Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

AKA, what not to do to your car 101: Get a full coilover kit (tein, omni power, skunk2, etc) or get a good set of springs paired with a good shock (kyb, koni, etc). R34 kit... Just don't do it. You have a Prelude, and you like that you have a Prelude. Why hide it with a hideous body kit? It will not flow with the lines of the car, and it will do nothing for the aerodynamics. All it will succeed in doing is looking bad. Projector headlights. While there are a lot worse things that can be done to the car, and you have actually named a couple of them, these still aren't the greatest idea, IMO. Not only will they look pretty bad, but it's doubtful that they will actually help the light at night. Tails. Again, just don't do it. You will regret it... either when you're looking at the car one day, or when they're pooled with water and you can put your pet goldfish in them. Pacesetter catback: No. When it comes to modifying cars, keep in mind that what you pay for is what you get. Save your pennies (or use the money you would have spend on the exhaust + headlights + tail lights) and get an exhaust that will not only hold up much better, sound better, but also may actually help your vehicle's performance just a bit. Gutting the cat. This in no way will help your vehicle. As already said, get a good high flow cat (random tech makes good ones) or a test pipe. Of the headers you are looking into, go with the DC sports in a stainless. You can buy a much better header, but for the price tag you the DC will suffice. Racing stripes. It's been a great couple of years now that people are actually not trying to make their cars look like they came straight off the set of The Fast and the Furious. Please don't start a revival, we'll have enough of that when the 3rd poor excuse of a movie is released. I'd recommend going with no larger than a 16" wheel. And please, no chrome. I am probably going to run 15 or 16 inch rota rims or something along those lines maybe spoon. i really want 17's tho...but hat ill 17's do to speed, gas mileage. i have run 17's before but i just never thought about what they did to my gas economy and top speeds. i am going to do total seal piston rings and rebuild the head with dual valve springs, retainers, seals. i'll probably run skunk2 lowering coils with tokico shocks. i decided on apex exhaust too. mountaindewguy Posted January 13, 2006 Share Posted January 13, 2006 opinion on stuff: like said above, for the exhaust, no pacesetter, BAD stuff from them. i would vote for the dc header, its the best for the price out there and even cheaper for ceramic coated. get a high flow cat. exhuast, +1 for the megan, i have a megan catback and it sounds excellent. you wont find better sounding for the bucks. headlights/tailights - if you decide to get them, DONT GO CHEAP. or you'll be wasting your time feeding the fish. if you like the talights/headlights or whatever, get them, but make sure its a respective brand. and i heard somewhere of someone spraying around the seals and back with like a clear coat epoxy type stuff to help ensure keeping moisture out. i personally think 17's look sick, but with the suspension upgrade, the ride will be a little rough. 16's would look with a lower, but still comfortable profile tire.
