wow LOL that's hilarious!

Well, taxes were lower during Bush times...compared to Clinton times and Obama will increase them...

But as a person, no one actually wanted W. He was just better then the other choices at the time. Lesser of the two evils, as it were.

I voted for him. Never liked him. Pretty sure he is the reason the country is so screwed at the moment. Wish there had been a better choice to cast my vote.

i think its funny how everyone thinks its all the presidents fault.. the president just gets all the crap cause its too hard to blame the individual people who make up the rest of the government..

if the president HAD full reign over the US (aka a KING) then i can see people really complaining

and besides IMO obama isnt that bad.. taxes are taxes.. they pay for stuff.. its not like obama is completly in charge of the budget and how stuff gets spent (its all a compromise).. AND he is the one talking about reducing fraud in the welfare system etc.. i mean the US is in an INCREDABLE amount of debt and taxes pay for that.. suspossed to at least.. and if you have a good tax person and dont spend a stupid amount of money on stupid crap you can get a large amount back.. and NO ONE will be able to fix the government in a few years.. its going to take a lot of the f'ed up people in life position dying and then just everyone else getting replaced

if you really hate the US that bad and hate being taxed etc. fracking move somewhere else and quit adding to the problem (complaining doesnt help anything).. yes the united states government is not a perfect system and so corrupt its amazing but its still better then some other countries.. like the ones who cant even feed themselves or build adequate housing for themselves... ITS NOT THAT DAMN BAD

ITS NOT THAT DAMN BAD

Actually, it is that bad.

My thought is that the problem with everything wrong in the government today can be laid at the feet on one thing and one thing only: Government no longer serves the people. Instead it tries to serve the opposing factions of business and people at the same time. Businesses have the advantage of having one person (or a couple people) leading them and their decision making. Allowing them much greater control over the activities of the entity. People, on the other hand, must reconcile the thoughts and actions of multitudes of individuals to combat the unified businesses. Kind of an unfair system don't you think?

False, I think Bush did a good job as a President. Yes, there were things that he did I didn't/don't agree with, mostly in his last two years in office. The MAJOR reason the country is the way it is right now is because of the Democratic held congress since 2006.

Wrong, He is in control of taxes and spending, he can veto any tax increase. Even if it gets a majority vote after the veto, he still can make a point. Reducing fraud in welfare, LMAO, You do realize his is strongly tied to ACORN. The only people that are in there for "life" are Supreme court justices. No, its not that bad now, we have the greatest standard of living in human history, and that is because of capitalism. Love it or hate it there is no denying that is the reason we are who we are. No its not equal to everyone, but guess what, thats life. Name another socialist/fascist/communist government where someone can come from a dirt poor start and end up being incredibly rich without selling their soul to the government. HIGHER TAXES = A LOWER STANDARD OF LIVING.

The citizen hold the ultimate card, they can vote! People need to see through what the Teleprompter and main stream media tell them and vote the right people in. Hopefully what is happening now can carry on to 2010 and 2012 elections.

Please don't believe everything TV says.

He wants to do a million things that are "good" but all he does is ruin it all. His stimulus plan put us in more debt and it didn't fix anything (as I already knew...since "stimulus" only makes a bit better just for a little while and then it gets worse than before. So all the "stimulus" did was delay the recovery and put us in more debt!) Oh and the "health care" that sounds so great when he talks about it...well, it would make the insurance companies way richer and it wouldn't really fix much.

Obama is just another politician who cares about his own career. He is pushing for things against most in congress and most in the population (health care) just because he thinks it will do something good.

"Taxes are taxes" wait until more than 1/3 of your paycheck goes to taxes so that you have to count pennies to live, even though you studied and now you work your as* off. Let's see if you'll like that. Oh and when they increase taxes to "pay for the deficit," let's see if it actually works...no it doesn't!!

The president can reject tax increases.

Obama, stop thinking "socialism" and realize that taxing the rich to death means the poor get hurt too. Taxing the wealthy takes the jobs (that those wealthy create for the poorer people) go away!

Green jobs: I hate it when people think "green jobs" are so great "because they create jobs and help the environment." BULL crap! Europe tried that and they realized that "every green job created takes away 2.2 regular jobs"...

Awesome! :D thank you!

I have been so happy ever since Massachussetts election of Brown :D yay to Republicans gaining more control. I hope this trend keeps going through the states and we get better people in congress :)

And, I CAN'T WAIT until Obama is out of office! He should just go talk to little kids about "credit cards" and "wasting money in Vegas" or whatever he wants to do.

TL;DR

Sorry. Like him or hate him W was responsible for two of the greatest negative things to happen in my lifetime: He started a war with another country for no viable reason; his inaction facilitated the greatest economic travesty to beset the US in 70 years.

Obviously, there is a lot more to it then that, but that is what it boils down to.

Citizens have never held the ultimate card.

Show me ONE politician in office today, dem or rep, that has the interest of their constituents before the interest of their party and reelection.

The goal should be to improve the lives and well being of your people, not guarantee the success of your next election of your political party.

If you take care of the people they will reelect you anyway.

Please take note that I did not positively praise ANY elected official. I'm not happy with the things BO has done or wants to do but I also feel JM would not have been one ounce better of a choice.

^I wish they believed that making people happy would get them reelcted...they don't work for us...they just take our tax money...

I don't think McCain would have done this "stimulus" plan that BO did. That one single "plan" ruined us a lot! Also, McCain obviously wouldn't push for this health care reform bs giant plan.

If I'm not mistaken, the majority of the US population wanted McCain but Obama won because he got more electoral votes...

I can't wait to see BO get out of the office after just 4 years (1 term)...I can't wait!

The way things are trending he might have an easy(er) reelection even with his depressed popularity. The Tea Party is considering entering a candidate for president which would split much of the conservative Republican vote and give the Democrats an easy go at the Presidency.

Additional parties that can present strong candidates are a good thing. Unfortunately, a party consisting of the more devout(extreme) thinking will detract from the primary party, rather then pull from both parties such as a 'middle ground' party would do. A good example of this would be the Green party. Although not a strong element it has skewed the vote on the Democratic side over the last 20 years.

^ya that Ron Paul guy doesn't get elected...he messes things up too!

I want a republican in office...I agree with most of their stuff except when it's about abortion and gays.

I think the only good thing about Obama is this appeal of "Don't ask, don't tell"...

its funny that you say dont believe whats on tv

where are you guys getting your information?

you dont KNOW the president.. camaras are not allowed in some of the meetings (and if they were that would be seen/heard ON TELEVISION)... you dont KNOW every member of government

obama got voted in around here because the poor people on welfare who also deal drugs etc thought they'd get free money.. THEY DIDNT.. instead the state of sc (and obama) are talking about reducing fraud in welfare.. so they are pissy

and i stand by my thing of if you dont like the taxes and think the US is that bad.. move.. you have mexico and canada a drive away

everyone is getting their information from third parties.. and when it says what they want it to they believe it.. but if it doesnt its bs and no one should believe it

i SAID the government is f'ed up and the US is not as bad as many countries.. if you really think the us is a horrible country you are a moron.. you dont live in a third world country.. you live in a country where its for the most part acceptable for a women to be an engineer or whatever.. (for everyone who says bs.. a WOMEN did just run for president.. how many other countries does that happen in?)

and i won't bitch and complain about taxes taking so much of my paycheck because at least im GETTING a paycheck.. plenty of people are getting laid off and cant find jobs.. kegger had a hell of time finding a job correct? he doesnt seem lazy or unqualified to me for the jobs he was applying to. taxes are taxes and you wont get away from paying them so whats the point of complaining.. get a crapty job that pays less.. you'll be in a lesser tax bracket and possibly make just as much or close to it

lina- your not poor by far working as an engineer unless you are REALLY that bad with money.. people losing their jobs as blue collar workers and losing the houses they have for their families are poor.. your taxes go to helping them keep their house until they can find another job (and yes i know probably over 1/2 of the people on employment/welfare are taking advantage of the system but not everyone is).. im not being mean here but if you dont like where you are do something about it.. maybe should have put more thought into where you were moving.. boeing is opening a new plant in charleston in the next year... weather is better cost of living is WAY less then up north.. and charleston is really pretty with a great nightlife.. look for places like that.. up north WILL be more expensive.. ie: getting paid 100k in a city where everything is stupid expensive vs getting paid 70-80k in a nicer/cheaper area

people get elected for the wrong reasons.. duh.. horrible stupid people get put in office.. duh again.. the war in iraq is pointless and a waste of money.. duh.. the us government is f'ed up.. what can be done about it? not much.. if you dont listen to what you hear/see.. and dont know the people for YEARS so you know they are not bs'in.. then you really dont know what your getting

voting only goes so far btw.. the amount of stupid people far outweigh the amount of smart people.. aka the people in sc who voted for obama cause he was 1) black 2) thought they'd get free money far outweighed the people who actually put thought into their decision

1) I am more complaining about the USE of my tax dollars. And, I'd love to go to Europe and live there...I really have considered doing that...I could get a job in Spain as an engineer (I used to live in Spain so I know Spanish well) since during my last job, I communicated with this one company there in Spanish and helped them out and they said if I ever wanted a job, I could have one.

I didn't choose to come to US. My parents did. I don't think I'll want to live here my whole life.

Still though, the USE of ALL OF OUR tax money is bad...it's being wasted or making us hurt more (stimulus plan)

2) uh, Honduras just elected a woman president!!

And, when you get out there and start working, then tell me what is acceptable and what is not as a woman in any field! Please...

I'm not just complaining about being a girl. I like that I'm a girl. I don't care what anyone thinks outside or at work. I know who I am.

3) well, I might lose my job too as it seems and as my boss confided in me that we all might lose our jobs.

4) You THINK working as an engineer would make you good money since engineers and lawyers and doctors are supposedly up there right? NO...since the taxing system is set up to tax you more when you make more...

You don't know how many engineers around my age I know who say the same thing: we are so poor because no matter how hard we work, we still don't make enough money to get out of this same life.

I wish everyone well and I don't want anyone to be out of a job or lose a house...it's just that our economy is so horrible right now.

:)

Quick question: So are you saying you would be ok with getting your paycheck on a Friday, say, and then cutting it in half and giving half to your neighbors and keep the other half? (not just talking about welfare. This is the same concept as the "cash for clunkers" and "cash for caulkers" and all this "stimulus")

I'm not saying let's all be cruel but come on, we can't all "share the wealth"...kind of like some people who say "oh doctors and lawyers make so much money and they should give their money to others so that everyone is better off"...that's not how the world can work!!

This country will be far worse off if you move to Europe.

I get some of my information through news media outlets, some of it via my wife (she works for the state government), and the rest from reading news briefs and press releases. As with all things I believe only 1/2 of what I read because you only ever get one side of the story regardless of the source.

TBH, I don't really care who the politicians are anymore. I'm just trying to save up enough to buy my cabin in the back country and then civilized life can kiss my back side.

^what do you mean the country will be far worse off?

I agree...no one can ever know everything and the truth. I read CNN and read bunch of other stuff but I don't ever believe everything I read...I try to use my own judgement on what's REALLY going on...but it's all so complicated...too many forces behind things...

Nice, so that's your plan! :D I want to find a way to never have to work for a company (in front of a computer job) ever!

I voted BROWN!

And I'll tell ya, I graduated from college in May as a radiologic technologist...x-ray tech and I can't find crap for a job. Luckily I had a job cooking to begin with. While many students from my class still are out of work and can't even find a regular job for the mean time... EVERY hospital but one in MA & RI is not hiring. IF the whole universal health care system went into effect, I would never EVER have any chance of finding a job in this country.

And to add besides that, the whole reason as to why health care is so expensive to begin with is that insurance is so expensive. EVERYONE in this country now-a-day's points the finger at someone else and says "I'll sue" and the majority of the time for some damned reason the suit goes through.

EXAMPLE: I was recently summoned for jury duty. They gave us minimal details about the case and I don't know how in the end it actually got ruled....BUT, the suit was about an older couple 50-60's son attempted to commit suicide..failed, went to the hospital fixed up etc. The ordering physician sent the guy to some care facility, where he attempted it again and succeeded...Some how it was the DR.'s fault for not putting the person in an adequate enough care facility...How is it the DR.'s fault for your child's act of killing himself? If you're gonna do it you're gonna do it... Take responsibility and realize that your kid was going through some tough times etc. and took his own life.. End of story. This was a Supreme court case as well.

I was beyond pissed off when I was in the court room from 9am-5:45pm waiting for the lawyer of the plaintif's medical masquerade of finding a jury to be over with.

*Now back to the effect of the proposed health care plan..so all the illegals would get free health care correct? Bringing even more over here in a heart beat. As it stand everyone bitches and complains in general and to me when I was at clinical why the ER takes so long? Well, if/when the health care bill goes through more employees would be getting laid off and the still employed will have even more of a work load dumped on them than they already do! As well as in creasing the time that patients will have to wait to be seen.

Do we even want to get into the conversation about why Obama was awarded the nobel peace prize, and was nominated for it after only being in office for a lil over a month? Cool let's give him one of the most prestigious awards for becoming the first black president...The one and only thing I think Obama has done for the country is to help publicly show off a family..Which not that I think the numbers show it but could potentially help the effort to lower divorce rates..People just don't try anymore and take the easy way out. Other countries call us Lazy American's for a reason.

When Bush got into office, the following September he had to deal with 9/11 and all of the BS that came with it..Many forget that, Also if someone walks up to you and punches you in the face are you just gonna allow that or go after the person, as long as you're not knocked out? That's the same thing that Bush did but on a larger scale.. And as my buddy will tell ya there are still IED's being planted everywhere on the sides of roads in iraq and 5-year olds walking up to him and pointing an AK-47 at him..and the war on terrorism is still needed in my eyes seeing as how we've suppressed them over there and kept it from occurring here to an extent.

On a Last note, America was recently voted the 3rd best country to live in in the world. France was #1.

^I saw that article about US being 3rd and France 1st. People pay very high taxes in France for that quality of life though.

I agree with you on health care. The easier and cheaper way to REALLY fix it would be stuff like:

1) make it illegal for an insurance company to deny or reject

2) make it harder to sue doctors (doctors are expensive because they have to buy expensive insurance for possible stupid lawsuits)

3) less taxes and regulations so that insurance actually becomes cheaper for people

4) let across-states buying

I think they just gave him the Nobel prize to "encourage"...bla bla! That was lame.
