Need Advice on a New Car

Recommended Posts

ok the car isnt for me lol :p its for a buddy at work. he has a white 350z at the moment but wants another car. he is looking at one of these three cars:

RX 7(newest generation)

Toyota Supra

RB26DeTT swapped 240 sitting at 510 RWHP

now he doesnt plan on leaving anything stock so i told him to forget about the rx7 and go legend status on the supra. build for boost and single turbo it. easy 600 whp. he is wondering about the 240 though. he is trying to stay in the nissan crowd but is open to suggestions. he wants to add another 150 hp to the 240 if he gets it. and if he gets the supra he wants to double the stock hp. he has the money for all this so right now im thinking supra. but a rb240 would be nasty lol.

so im asking opinions for these three cars...( i know a few taht will say 240...you damn nissan owners lol)

i'd say ditch the 240 and go for a 300zx tt, if not then i'd go supra all day every day. the supra is just a whole other league, not to mention it's a BEAUTIFUL car. no 240 could ever match the aesthetic beauty of a supra.

frack s15s still. sure they are pretty, but they are overrated as well. just because we don't have them in the states, that's the only reason they appeal to us here. they look just as good as any other sports coupe here when they are stock.

Personally I'm sick an tired of seeing RX7's and Supra's they are overdone. I don't care how clean they are or how much power they make. They are always overpriced and most of the owners are douchebags. Its rare to see original or different rice is common. Most of them have been beat to hell and back. The 240 is affordable and a good building platform the others tend to be far overpriced and good luck finding a virgin car.

Personally Id look into building something else.

Ford wont make anything good for the us market for a while I wish they'd bring over the focus rs with its horrible torque steer and all! I really want a Cosworth Sierra or Escort. That would be a fun build and very rare in the us.

thats what i said about the supra lol. i told him the 240 would be looked at as a tuner car even with the rb26dett in it. the rx7 is overrated and the supra is legendary.

yeah i cna find nearly a hundred supras that are 100% stock. 5 in ohio and 2 as DD's. sure a lot of them are high power cars, but what other car do you know of that will hold 1000 hp on a stock rear end? of course someone will mention a skyline but that 4wd will kill the cv joints quick especially with that high power application.

and he chose these three cars because he found a stock supra and rx7 and a rb26dett 240. all is rare in its own right. the supra is legendary, the 240 is just nuts with 510 at therear wheels and the rx7 is only 1 of 100 in the US that are origional black with twin turbos

i think hes narrowed it down to the supra and 240. pretty sure he will go with the supra and he wants to build for boost for ~600 hp on tap. maybe more

lots of high power Supras blow their transmissions thats why the gm turbo 400 auto is a popular swap. Also a Nissan r200 or 230 will hold 1000 hp. I grew up in LA good luck finding a turbo Supra in So Cal without some kinda mod. The Supra makes me sad with its demise Toyota stopped developing anything fun. I know they own Scion still don't count. (have you seen the insurance costs on them now? they are supposed to be extremely high due to younger kids driving them and people modding them and crashing/steeling them).

If he wants a Toyota go get a Toyota 2000gt little pricey tho...

Whats the big deal with the hp numbers?

well he only wants one of those three cars. we have 3 supras that are bone stock that he can look at. one has a super glide transmission. that alone is nearly $6,000. its built to hold 1400 hp

so basically the rx-7? i'd say go for it... as long as it's not the 240. honestly either of the cars can make the power with a bit of cash and time.
