painting my valve cover

you all act like painting a vc is blasphemy.. i've painted mine about 5 times.. i used spray paint and clear coat.. just strip it, sand it and paint. it's not that hard.

 

actually comes out pretty damn good.

180 grit, spray even coats until it's fully covered. (3-4) then after it's dried add about 2 layers of clear for protection. then leave it overnight in a dry, warm area.

 

You can put it in the oven if you dont have time to leave it out in the sun. 200 degrees for 15 minutes is fine.

 

 

if it's too muggy or humid and no sun is present, that's a good time to use the oven. make sure you clean the Valve cover before you put it in there though. oil might ignite.

if it's powdercoated, it's gonna take you forever to sand it off.

Hit up Wally world, they've got it!

Like 7 bucks a can, you'll use most of it.

 

I'd also suggest buying a new valve cover seal before you pull it off.
