21JumpStreet
After working in a casino for 6 months, i finally found a new job. I now work for Holmes Honda. SWEET. i can get discounts on parts and services and there's hot receptionists there. Hopefully all goes well and i can buy a new Honda and a bike. And in a few months, i can kiss some ass, move up to Sales Manager, and rob those bitches blind. he he he. j/k i'm not a theft and i'll go to jail instantly. I'll be a sales advisor starting out with 27k a year. Pretty steep for a 20 year old living with his parents.

TLontheDL
<~~~college grad and can't even find a decent job. To be honest with you guys, college degree nowadays don't mean sh*t. Its only good for a little higher wage. Most jobs today look for people with experience within the field. Take for example my situation now. I want to work in a hospital (Im trying to be a future nurse) but no hospitals will hire me, at least not yet, b/c I'm not certified in anything. I do have a college degree but they don't even care about that. To find a job nowadays, you have to be certified in something and with that certification, you CAN start out at maybe 40+ depending on your occupation. Is it fair for those who go to college and spend THOUSANDS of dollars on tuition? No its not but thats life :(

Pyrorocketeer
how bout it dude.... I'm seriously considering transfering out of Penn State's engineering program to go to Penn Tech. Offer just about the same stuff, with tons more hands on, which I love. About 100% job placement after you graduate too. Does Penn State do that.....nope..... plus, I hate book work. to be a graduate from PSU's engineering program you have to love bookwork. Engineers that are all book smart don't work worth a damn in real life. Just my .02 Edit: Do co-ops count half the time? Usually not. Companies want full time employment, for 3+ years usually. mycarsux
Penn Tech? As in PCT? BAH! I got in that place with junior transcript. I was first one in my class to be accepted into college. Edit: Do co-ops count half the time? Usually not. Companies want full time employment, for 3+ years usually. Their purpose is for experience. Plus I get paid for them (not much but still). And no classes while doing the co-op. That's major FTW.

He has had 2 jobs set up by the school during the summer in his field prior to graduation. now he has 4 job opportunities open for him if he wants them. one of which is government work. another friend went to school there, day after he was out, he was working with a company they helped him find. he is in egypt now on international travel. 12k bonus comming up also. So if your still laughin, we will see come 4 years from now, who has all their loans paid off and has a job, and who is still searching.

mycarsux
don't hate on other schools harry...i have 3 really good friends at Penn Tech. I'm aware, nothing against them at all. I just really don't like that school at all. Ha, when i was driving through Williamsport my buddy said "Williamsport, Pa. Sponsored by Pepsi." I had no idea what he meant til I saw a billboard with Pepsi logos all over it and it said "Welcome To Williamsport!" I laughed so hard. Pyro, find yourself a better school. Good for your sis's bf and all but its really not that great a school in general. It IS a great place if you want a job right out of school. Because like I said, the town is one big industrial plant. So they look at that place for fresh employees for their company. I go to RIT for Mechanical Engineering Technololgy. Not the hardest of school's to get into but its at the same level as Drexel. Still feel like judging?
Pyrorocketeer
I guess everyone has their opinions.... I'm enrolled as a ME at PSU, and I hate it. It isn't what I want to do. and guess what....i do believe thats what we are all looking for is jobs right out of school is it not? so I'll go there, pay a little more, enjoy school more, graduate, and get placed in a job I want to be in. pretty simple to me. Btw Penn Tech has some of the best programs in the country..... and btw. none of these job offers were in the local area, so it isn't just a big industrial park. whatever dude, i'm just tryin to make the best of life and school, and make a little money. i want the fastest route to where I want to be, and this is the obvious choice. mycarsux
Come to RIT and do MET. Its still mechanical engineering but its waaaaayyyy more hands on. and waaaayyyy less book work. I'm looking for more than a job after college. I'm not gonna revolve my whole college experience around getting a good job.
Pyrorocketeer
body work....? who said anything about collision repair....? oh yeah thats right....its a technical school, so thats all they teach right? your opinion means jack to me. I just want a job where I can support a family, and sort of like what I do. Thats why you have hobbies....enjoyment. besides, a good body man makes more than what most 4yr college graduates make anyways.....

Jeffro
Congrats on the new job! I just started a new job, too, BTW, and I'm barely making more than you mentioned, so I wouldn't let anyone cut you down. When I graduated college, I landed a job making 19k/year, and I've moved up quite a bit since then. AND, everyone is their own person, but I wouldn't be where I started this week if it wasn't for my college degree. When I first got a job, it didn't matter, but now I've moved to a major city and higher pay where they require at least a 2 year degree, and prefer the 4-year degree. Experience is always a plus, but even that will only get you so far. Just like only a degree and no experience can only get you too far. IMO, get your schooling, start simple and build your experience, and move up. THAT is the best way to get where you're going. Just my $.

sonnyjc3
Can Honda dealers get Acura or JDM Honda parts? i dont think they can get jdm parts. but i do believe that when you work there, you can get acura parts because there essentially the same company. just like when you apply for jobs, theyre like, have you worked for any of the following companies. but i do believe when you work for a dealership, you can get discounts on any car parts. they have like a wholesale card number or something that you use and get anything regarding cars at whole sale prices. my friend washes cars at kia, and he gets all sorts of stuff for his hatchy whole sale. And what's the chance of you making 64k? Just to let you know, jealousy is a weak emotion. Haters get NOWHERE! I'm still in college and making 27k is pretty damn good. when after working for 1 year i can make 6 figures. so do me a favor and go home.
