Batman Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 How can I tell if I have a VTEC head or not?
CleanGSR Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Come on. You have been here long enough to know that. Plus, this question was just asked a day or two ago.
Batman Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 I didnt see it where can I find it or can you tell me please ? Ive had a bad night sofar so please be easy on me.
CleanGSR Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Look and see if there is one set or two set of cam lobes. Um, if it's a B series head, take a picture of the valve cover and post it here.
Batman Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 My cam isnt working is this what you mean?
CleanGSR Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 No I was talking about the valve cover on the top of the motor when it's assembled. That or look at the cams.
Batman Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 Bouth of the heads I have are hollow...
Batman Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 I just looked at them... What was I looking for?
Batman Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 Im out untill tomarow Im getting a little edgy so Im going to walk away. Any help WOULD be nice. See ya tomarow....>_< :glare:
SolLesHonda Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Dude, you really need to calm down. This is a forum, not an instant message, things take more than three seconds sometimes. Anyway, post a pic of your cams, or your valve cover. Not the head itself. Follow directions, and quit being so antsy.
Humphries Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 is it an LS head.. if it is.. then its non-VTEC Thats a clean ASS head you posted.. i likey senor batman!
Batman Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 My camera isnt working so I cant post pics. I know thay both have 16 valves isnt a VTEC a 16 valve and non VTECs 12 valve or am I rong?
Batman Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 I have two heads sitting in my garoge.
SolLesHonda Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 They both have 16 valves. Look at the CAM.
CleanGSR Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Do you have the cams seperate that go with the head? Like laying around somewhere.
Batman Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 No I got the B18A1 block for free, and they gave me the two heads the next day with a GSR intake manifold.
CleanGSR Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 SSR and BBS need to reply to this, cause there is surely a way to tell what head it is by the bare head itself. I don't know what it is though. You can't just call the people you got them from and ask them?
Batman Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 All he could say is if it has 16 valves its a VTEC if it has 12 Its not.
cranny Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 you posted a pic of the wrong side of the head my man , in between the 2 valves(under where your vtec rocker arm would be), theres a little black peg that sticks up out of head does it have these? the cams are the easiest way to tell if the cams have 12 lobes on each one than thats a vtec cam(for dohc engines).theres not too many 4 cyl engines honda or not that dont have 16 valves these days.
Batman Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 Hear are the Numbers... P75-1 PR4-5 what am I looking for. (this is not my head)
CleanGSR Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 The PR4-5 head is a B18a head non-vtec. Pretty sure that the P75-1 Is an OBD-1 B18B head. Neither are vtec based on what I found.
Batman Posted February 18, 2006 Author Posted February 18, 2006 The PR4-5 head is a B18a head non-vtec. Pretty sure that the P75-1 Is an OBD-1 B18B head. Neither are vtec based on what I found. Ya I called Honda and ran the numbers, Neither are VTECs that suck but I hear I can get just as much power ot of them all the same. Thanks for all the help.
