airjordan223
im going to be working in a body shop next semester. Im going to do a full exterior restoration on my del sol...getting all the dings out and mold a front lip on. Since im sanding down the whole car, im thinking about paint. I really like the stock milano red paint, especially when its clean, but whenever I see a candy apple red, i wet myself . What do you guys think i should do? Go for candy apple red, or stock milano? i will be doing the doorsills and everything that you can see, so there wont be a clash of colors if i go candy. thanks
CleanGSR
That depends. If you switch to a different shade of red, will you be reapinting all the door/trunk jams etc.? If so, then go with a brighter red like the new vette or something.
SolLesHonda
yeah the new vette is insanely red ... so are all porsches
airjordan223
yeah im going to repaint everything including door/trunk jams. my dad used to have a red porsche and it looked a hint orange next to the sol....kinda weird. but if i do a different color, i want a RED. the milano is a very nice deep red, but in some light, it has orange. SolLesHonda
right right ... stock milano red with some red base coat and lots of clear coat should make it shine and look a little bit different ... good luck

SolLesHonda
+1 to that .... im not feeling that attached picture of the candy apple .. i don't think that color would look too good on a del sol ... unless you are going for a show look
CleanGSR
Same here, I don't care for the candy red that was posted.
SolLesHonda
paint it red like B16Vtec's red ... his car looks good ... just add some more clear
CleanGSR
Nah, mines just stock Milano Red. My celica I had (riced out as it was), made the del sol look brownish red when sitting next to it. It was so bright in the sun, it almost hurt to look at it.
SolLesHonda
paint it electron blue pearl ! ... but if you MUST go red, then stick milano with some good clear
airjordan223
yeah i really like the electron blue, but im gonna stick with some kind of red, because thats what the car was originally i was also thinking of door poppers, to give a cleaner look. i know you can have an emergency button hidden under the car somewhere incase your battery goes dead or whatever. but im kinda nervous about not having a manual way of getting into the car...besides smashing a window.i also plan on keepin it for a long time (my dad still has his first car he ever bought 1957 chevy bel-air) and i dont know how long they will last. so whats your opinions on the poppers? Humphries
door poppers are stupid and so is shaving the handles.. they need to be there to get into the car. paint it milano red with 5 coats clearcoat. and get every scratch and bump out before you think about painting. airjordan223
yeah thats the way im leaning towards now. im gonna get an alarm too. looking at the new clifford intelliguard 750 or something i think.
SolLesHonda
go viper or some alarm made by DEI DEI = quality ... clifford is good but i prefer DEI ...
CleanGSR
I disagree. DEI = no options. I have a Viper (DEI) on my car and all it does is set an alarm for when you open the door and lock/unlock the car. It would be nice if I could hook up a remote start to it, and if it had some other options. I've heard good things about the clifford alarms, and from experience, don't like the DEI, so stick with clifford.
Humphries
viper is overpriced and doesnt live up to its standards.. get some kinda alarm installed by some kind of shop around you. the one i will be getting is $150 4 door locks and an all time alarm when you lock the doors.
