But i was wonderin does that stop leak stuff work. Ive heard that it not only does it work most of the time it also could damage the engine. Xeryon Posted May 1, 2009 Share Posted May 1, 2009 Depending on the severity of the leak the stops leak stuff does work. It won't stop a leak if an entire freeze plug is blown out or if the gasket is completely missing. Stop leak compounds are more intended for minor maintenance leaks then for actual damage repair. An example is my civic has a weeping head gasket. I lose about 1/2 quart every 3000 miles but do not have a blown or damaged head gasket. Stop leak material worked great in the case.
