TJT
Does anyone know how to adjust the idle speed on a 96 or so Accord? Mine is idling about 100 rpm to low in drive. Thanks for any help.
cranny
if it was previously altered than thats the only reason why it would have to be changed now. if it wasnt than check all sensors and valves on intake manifold look for vacuum leaks. even a tuneup if needed will make your car idle like poop. if all is good under the hood , lol , than your idle screw is located very close to your throttle body you cant miss it really. when your throttle(butterfly) is closed all the way , it rests in that screw. 9524tee
The idle will always go down if it's an auto when you put it in drive... How low is it in both situations?
TJT
The idle will always go down if it's an auto when you put it in drive... How low is it in both situations? When put in drive it goes down to about 500 rpm which is just low enough to cause a vibration throughtout the car. When in park it is still a little low but not bad. Humphries
dont worry about it.. it does that in any car.
CleanGSR
Yeah, you're putting a load on the engine when you put it in drive so it's going to drop the rpms some. The best fix would be to swap in a manually tranny.
Humphries
does the same in my manual.. so its just gonna be like that anyway you do it. and accord auto-manual swaps are VERY complicating.
CleanGSR
How can it do the same in your manual? You don't have a drive and a park.
Humphries
it does.. i cant explain it. doesnt do any damage, so dont mind it.
SolLesHonda
So when you put it in gear, you'r RPM's drop ? My old hatch used to do that when I put in reverse.
CleanGSR
I just want to know how you have a drive and a park with a manual tranny. Please explain or post pics of that. Since that's what we're talking about I assume that somehow you do, so let's see it.
Humphries
alright.. when you put it in a gear.. it makes a different noise and goes down like 100 revolutions. im not going outside to take pictures of my center console because you dont understand.
