VR17
i seen someone put a 2nd gen RX7 1.3L rotary in a crx that was front wheel drive also the tranny fit as well. can someone give me any infomation about this mazda to honda swap?
darksaint
That's an extraordinary swap, a rotory CRX would mercilessly spank. It can't be an easy swap, being that RX-7s are rear wheel drive and has lots of torque, sounds like a project car. I really have no information about such a swap, so I am kind of babbling. EGRacer
WOW!!! i have never even thought of doing that( im jeleous). i would say u have to convert to fwd(expensive) buy the motor(even more expensive) and then take all teh crap out of the crx engine bay and make custom brackets for it to fit. thats all i cna think of
VR17
the hard part is getting the tranny in, i mean.. in a FWD car from a RWD, i think this conversion needs to be all customize cause honda never made a rotary powered car. either that get a RX-7 and put a CRx chassie over it, modify some stuff and, you gotta rotary crx w00t
EGRacer
well to put a crx on a RX-7 chassis u would have to stretch the crx just a tad bit
..SSR..
Rotary or not doesn't matter, the part that does matter is that having a tranny made for it would be almost impossible, and IF it could be done, it would be extremely costly.
VR17
i guess that makes sence, but isnt the rotary engine smaller then inline four? i mean if it is, all you need is custom engine mounts and the tranny could fit if you modify the floorboards. ..SSR..
Yes, it is smaller, in liters, not sure about size, although I think it is. IF you wanted to retain FWD, you would need a new tranny. If you wanted RWD, you would need to modify A LOT more than the floorboards.....
