CivicSam
When installing an air intake what processes are involved? Is welding necessary, or is usually a straight bolt on. Is it difficult to remove your air filter housing? How long does the process take?
optional187
it'll take you 30 minutes if you don't know what you're doing. no welding. straight bolt-on. if you remove your resonator then you'll have to remove your front bumper, which isn't hard at all either. ..SSR..
Read the directions, no welding required.
CivicSam
haven't purchased yet, doing research..... ok, pros and cons of cold air intake over "regular"
optional187
and by regular you mean short ram? or stock?
CivicSam
short ram.... but now that you mention it, stock too if you know.
..SSR..
Stock, flows more air Short ram, cooler intake temp.
CivicSam
ok, time to sound stupid... ideally I want more oxygen going into the engine to increase the size of explosions and make the engine run more efficiently, so then wouldn't stock be ideal? If I"m talking out of my butt, let me know. Oh, and after you let me know, correct my logic. Thanks.

Explosions = bad. Burning = good. 3. You don't want the gas to explode, you want it to burn.
CivicSam
Thanks. Explosions bad... got it. SO then if more air is good, wouldn't a stock model be best?
optional187
colder air is better than warmer air. i had a short ram on my civic and it did fine...doubt it gave me very much hp though. from what i've heard from people around here injen cold air intake's give the most gain. ..SSR..
A stock intake tubing and box is a mess of mazes and ridges. That restricts the flow and it doesn't take in cold air. An aftermarket CAI is smooth and takes in cold air. Hence flowing better and more power. Comptech Icebox makes more power over Injen.
