Throwing a number out there, buying a b16 and all the various parts to do a full swap runs around 2-2500 or so if you turn every nut yourself and buy the parts new from top notch retailers. You could buy a motor locally off craigslist or such, but beware of thieves, or buy from a shadier distributor, or buy a cheaper engine, or join a local club or message board and buy from another enthusiast.
