Brakes are weak!

Recommended Posts

So my brakes have become extra spongy. When i apply the brakes the pedal has some resistance for a few seconds then slowly goes all the way to the floor. Its very annoying and clearly a hazard!

I bled the brakes and it still eases all the way to the floor.

what the junk?

are you sure you bled them correctly? also if you get stainless steel braided lines it will prevent that

im pretty sure i did it right. i had dad help me, i pumped the brakes a few times, then held them in and he cracked the valve - suprisingly we didnt get much any air at all tho

how difficult are stainless steel lines to install? ...and how do they prevent the problem?

Stainless lines can be a pain to install. They work by preventing the lines from flexing caused by heat and pressure. It helps a little. Your brake MC might be going out.

Your symptoms point to a bad MC. Did you bleed it correctly? You're supposed to start from the wheel furthest from the MC and work in. Rear pass., rear driver, front pass., front driver. In that order.

yeah i bled them in that order.

however the front driver didnt bleed very well. the valve didnt have the dust cap so it had a bunch of crap in it. some fluid still came out (very little) but i figure if fluid can come out, air could also flow so i dont thing thats the problem

i think ill look into brake lines and maybe a MC
