Posted September 2, 2005 Share Posted September 2, 2005 today i got a ticket for exhibition to speed because i did like a 5 foot burn off about 1/2 miles from a town with 600 people in it. the cop was outside of his car doing something or another on the other side of a bush that i couldnt see around and when i passed him doing around 20 (well under the speed limit since i could see the 20 m.p.h sign coming up so i just went twenty from the burn off) i was going so slow i heard him say "hey you come here" and point at me. so i pulled in and hes like what were you doing burning out like that and i said nothing i just hit some gravel coming off of the stop sign. and hes like well did you know that is considered street racing? i just looked at him and said, what? so i give him my info and he types it in and give me a ticket for $421 fawking bucks so i said i have never heard of anybody getting in trouble for a burnoff and i have never heard of it being illegal to do a small little burnoff, maybe sitting there and roasting the tires but for a tiny 5 foot burnoff. then he starts talking about how its speed racing and means that im going to race people (even tho there wasnt anybody on that entire road but me becasue it was a back road) and i told him there isnt anybody on this entire road to race, and that i know street racing is illegal and that is why i dont do it. so now i have to miss school to go and fight this in court. since this is the first ticket i have ever gotten. he should have at least let me go with a warning since i have never heard of it being illegal. i even took a driver safety course and they didnt say anything about it being illegal. and the ticket is even more bullcrap since my cousin got a ticket for doing 83 in a 55 while racing people and his ticket was only 200 bucks. did any of you guys know it was illegal to spin your tires coming out of a stop sign no matter how little they spun? cause i shure as hell didnt. so all this is mostly to say screw you pigs, screw you all get off the streets and start busting some meth labs and crap because that is where we need you lazy donut chomping coffee chugging buttheads!!!!!!! !!! i just needed to rant about these theiving pigs!!!!!!!!!!!!! i feel much better now. i hope i win. Technically you are not 100% in control of your car if you are breaking traction (I know that this will get argued). I've also heard of exhibition of speed and I've been told that you can get a ticket for accelerating too fast even without speeding, breaking traction, or racing. I've never heard of it happening but if the cop wanted to be a crusty vagina, I guess I could get ticketed a lot for merely accelerating too hard. (though not lately with the gas prices). Anyway, it sucks that you got a ticket, and I wouldn't even mention in court about doing a small burnoff. SexyH22 Posted September 2, 2005 Share Posted September 2, 2005 yeah i knew it was exhibition of speed also. most cops dont write tickets for it, but lately alot of state revenue is low so they are encouraging cops to right more tickets to make more money for the state. its frackin bullcrap. i agree. dont say anything about doing a burnout or even that you can spin your tires. just say that there was alot of loos gravel on the road, and you didnt even realize that the tires were spinning. MeAndMyHonda Posted September 3, 2005 Share Posted September 3, 2005 You should be considered lucky... if your caught even watching a race down at the night races in seattle... it's a $2000 dollar fine... and if you were caught actually racing... i think you have to spend a night in jail and go to court and pay a huge fine... But yea i have heard of all those laws and even got pull over once myself for starting off in a race on the street from a stop light... he just let me go and told me not to do it again... the fines in washington are rediculous... flicking a cigarette out the window is a $1,025 dollar fine... My friends went at it at a stop light, and there was a cop right there. careless driving = $2xx, other friend was under 18, strike 3, no more license. sound laws aren't inforced either... one of the guys had a 2nd gen rx7 with a basically a staight pipe. if you want loud, I haven't heard louder. Humphries Posted September 4, 2005 Share Posted September 4, 2005 theres a law called "laying drags" my friend took his moms car out and had a new cold air intake installed on it (93 2door escort) so he was messing around and didnt see a cop and did a burnout all the way around the turn. cop got him for underage joyriding without a license, ''laying drags'', speeding, and accelerating too fast. he's a dumbass too. cops just tell you to turn down the noise, dont care about the exhaust, and flash their lights at ya cuz they're too lazy to chase you.
