Kastigir
If it's an HF, then yea. HFs were made for economy...not speed. A swap will be the best thing to gain power.

Mercutio
Im pretty sure its just a trim model, like EX, DX, VX, HX, etc...just a way to differentiate. Yeah, maybe a newer D series would suit you better, about 107hp, 1.6L SOHC VTEC the D16Y8 from a 92+Si or 96+EX.
hesperiandeathhorse(lol)
y8 starts closer at 120 hp, you're thinking of the y7. Get something better than a d-series if you really want to roll.
Mercutio
No, im talking about real HP, not flywheel, I have a D16Y8 VTEC, claimed 127hp from Honda...it isn't.
hesperiandeathhorse(lol)
So where did they hide the 20 horses, my ride peaks at around 150 now and that was on the dyno. Only have the new pistons, camshaft, cam gear, and some headwork. Pretty sure it was at least 120 when I got it, cause 30 horses is reasonable for what I had done. Mercutio
150 sounds about right for new pistons cams gears and whatever you did, thats a lot of work on a stock engine for 30hp, i also assume you have I/H/E right? That makes sense. No, Honda claims 127 on a D16Y8 VTEC, but really only about 110 gets to the ground. 40hp doesnt sound bad for the work you did. SexyH22
yea there is a big difference of what there claimed to have, and what actually gets put to the wheels. as he said it is measured at the flywheel.
hesperiandeathhorse(lol)
crap! you're right, I'm sorry. I was taking all that off the honda manual. It makes sense that they would only claim the horsepower where it can be measured at its highest. You'd think I'd have more sense than that. I checked a y8 engine build article and they said that they only produced 116 with I/H/E and a new cam gear Oh and no I don't have I/H/E, but am looking into a header, would all that boost me up a little more. SexyH22
yes, but buy catback or headerback exhaust at the same time or before you buy a header, or else it will be pointless.
hesperiandeathhorse(lol)
what about a new intake? Not talking about ram air or cold air intakes, but a new intake manifold. What will that do for me.
Mercutio
Ask SSR about manifolds, he like them ITB's, I STILL WANT THOSE MAN! hehehe, so much cusotm work for those things to work right, plus talk about air filtration...wooh! ITB=Independant Throttle Body for those who didn't know. I'll drive by some tree-cutters and my car will just die right there, hah.
