Lemurskin
Hello all- I am having a starting problem on my wife's 91 Civic. It starts right up but when the key is returned back the 'II" position, the engine dies. I have swapped many parts off my 89 Civic during this process- coil, ignitor and main relay to name a few. I noticed that when the key is in the "II" position, there are no idiot lights on. If I turn the key just past this position but not engaging the starter, the lights come on. I also found out that the engine will stay running if I hold the key in this midway position after starting. The radio and A/C do not work while doing this though. I am thinking it has some thing to do with the ignitions switch. Thanks in advance.
TLontheDL
yes, i believe it has to do with your ignition switch. i dont think its your starter b/c you said your engine does start. could be bad spark plugs or ignition wires.
Lemurskin
Looks like it was the ignition pig-tails(switch on back of lock mech). Bought a new one from dealer- $56.
