SpeedDemon
1992 Honda Civic Momo Steering Wheel and Hub Installation Tools Needed: Breaker Bar or Ratchet Wrench (1/2” drive) 19mm deep well socket T30 star bit Phillips Screw Driver Small Flat Tip Screw Driver ***Precaution Steps*** 1. UNHOOK NEGATIVE ON BATTERY 2. UNHOOK POSITIVE ON BATTERY STEP 1 -Remove Plastic Panel on bottom of steering wheel with Phillips screwdriver. ON THE PLASTIC COVER THERE WILL BE A RED PLUG. TAKE IT OFF CAREFULLY!!! ----------------------------------------- STEP 2 -After Removing the red plug on the cover follow by unplugging the yellow plug as shown. Follow this by plugging the yellow plug into the large end of the red plug. This will keep the airbag from deploying during removal. --------------------------------------- STEP 3 Remove the torx bit holding the airbag with a T30 torx bit. Repeat this step on the cruise control side. To do this you will need to use a small flat tip screw driver to remove the plastic cover on the cruise control. It should come off fairly easy, it is only held on by 2 small plastic clips. While the plastic cover is off remove the other T30 torx screw and two Phillips screws that hold the cruise control switch on. The cruise control switch will pull directly off. Once the cruise control is off slowly and carefully remove the airbag and store it with the plastic Honda facing up. STEP FOUR CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE ---------------------------------------------- STEP 4 Start Unplugging After removing the air bag this will be your result(IGNORE THE CRUISE CONTROL I FORGOT TO TAKE MINE OFF BEFORE THE AIR BAG) The next steps will involve disconnecting the horn(1.), cruise control(2.), and airbag(3.) plugs. 1. The horn plug is simply pulled off by pushing the small tab on top down and sliding it to the right 2. The cruise control is tricky, you must slide the plug to the left and reach behind the plug and pull forward, it releases the tab that is underneath and it should continue to slide left until coming off. 3. The airbag plug is simply unhooked from the plastic black tab. Be careful as to not break the black tab! Just simply pull the bottom part of the tab down and pull the plug forward. THIS WILL BE THE RESULT OF THE ABOVE STEPS -------------------------------------------- STEP 5 Removing the Steering Wheel Before removing the steering wheel make sure that your wheels are straight! Proceed by removing the hex nut that holds the steering wheel on. It is a 19MM. a deep well socket is recommended. After removing the nut carefully feed the horn, CC, and airbag plugs through the hold on the right side of the steering wheel while pulling the wheel off. If another person is available have them do one while you do the other. This will be the result after removing the nut, and steering wheel. in order to get the plate off you must remove the top and bottom plastic covers around the steering column, after that you will remove the three philips screws that hold the plate on. once removed you can remove the plate and put on you hub, tighten down the spline and add the steering wheel! enjoy!
