Humphries Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I'm having a problem with my civic. It has just now started to heat up to about 3/4 the way when I am in standstill traffic. When I rev it up to about 2000 rpm or when I start moving it does fine and returns to optimal temperature. I am flushing the radiator tomorrow and filling up with full 50/50 antifreeze instead of the water that is in there now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Nancy Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 did you check the thermostat. might be faultly. are you burning through coolant? smoke? but for serio, sounds like you need to replace the thermostat.
Humphries Posted May 30, 2009 Author Posted May 30, 2009 thats what my dad was telling me.. do you think i should get the Hi-flow thermostat or just get OEM replacement? they sell the same thing as a mugen thermostat at autozone. just dont know how necessary it really is.

Humphries Posted May 30, 2009 Author Posted May 30, 2009 what makes a spoon rad cap any better than my OEM?
Kastigir Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 If it was cooling back down when you rev the motor, or started moving your water pump isn't flowing coolant fast enough. Your water pump is dying.
