EvO
I'm curious to how far from my cold air going to be from my hood, and what would open up the sound of my vtec more
Pballer2005
any cold air will make it sound better, the stock air box is made with baffle chamber and soft rubber to help reduce the noise so getting rid of those will make it louder. and yes vtec will be easier to hear. as for clearance, it really depends on brand. get a bypass valve if you live in an area that gets decent amount of rain or flooding. Kastigir
Conversely you can remove the baffle from the airbox. I did it on my CRX, and at first I was wondering why my intake noise was louder.
Pballer2005
yeah if you think about it a CAI is just going to give you a nicer sound. i'm not going to spend any large amount of money for 2-3 hp.
brynfiv
Man, you can buy a cheap cai for about $15-$20 off of EBAY that will move the filter down into the fender. I don't see an AEM or GReddy being much more of an improvement for $200+ more dollars. Hell, I've got a cheap one. It's polished, had a place for the intake air temp sensor, and made a noticable power gain.
