Pballer2005
seen lots of video's and heard quite a few stories about stock d16y8's and zc's running 9-10psi. sounds pretty dangerous but people claim its safe. i'm not boosting my car any time soon. but how long would these cars last? and since they were 5th and 6th gens i'd bet they had plently of miles on those engines... Kegger
It really comes down to the tune, if you had a perfect tune with absolutely no imperfections or inconsistencies it could be safe. But I wouldn't recommend it.
Kicksome123
all depends on the turbo but psi doesnt kill the motor... horsepower does. I would shoot for 200-210 hp on the stock block. The guy im buying my kit from had his car at 220 hp 210 tq with a S-AFC hack and never had any problems. But yes you need a really good tune
Pballer2005
would just a thicker head gasket and a good (not nessesarily perfect) tune be enough to make it safe on those motors? most of the ones i've seen are making between 180 and 200 hp. Ben.
With an awesome tune, you could do it. Not to mention it's pretty easy to stay out of boost.
