les.delancy
Alignment bolt? What kind of car are we talking about? Obviously a Honda, so it almost has to be rack and pinion steering. You shortened the tie rod? The first thing you need to check for is worn out (loose or "sloppy") tie rod ends. Jack up the problem wheel and see if you can turn it in and out (front and back) with your hands. If so, you almost certainly have a bad tie rod end. Look under the car while wiggling the wheel and look at the tie rod (the piece connecting your steering rack to the knuckle). It could either be the outer end (at the knuckle), or the inner end (at the rack inside of the boot). If you have the latteral movement and no bad tie rod ends it could be a loose hub bearing; check for the same tyoe of movement top to bottom. That should get you started, if that's not it, check the tie rods on the other side. If you still don't find anything, check for loose or worn rack bushigs. It could also be a control arm bushing and or ball joint (though less likely). Hope this helps. If you have any more question, just ask!
