aidanodr
Hi Guys, Following on a recent topic about wet windows - I have a few more not too unrelated occurances. I have found that under the driver side carpets the floor is wet after rain has fallen. My mechanic went under the car and found that the two grommits at the back of the front wheel arches on the underside were loose. He took them out and back in again with silicone sealant. A leak still exists, but now it is more localised just under the front of the drivers seat. Heres a question - there is a black tarry substance covering the floor of the drivers seat [ under the carpet ] - right up to the pedals - What is this stuff? I hope its not dangerous? I noticed a crack in this substance down to the metal and also noticed that this stuff came away very easily. Me thinks there is water getting in under it. There are two more grommits under the car around this are. Will now have a go at the silicone with these. I cannot imagine a door leak due to where the wet patch is. Here are pictures of this area and substance - hope it helps with above description, http://www.tidalsound.com/3dstuff/integ1.jpg http://www.tidalsound.com/3dstuff/integ2.jpg http://www.tidalsound.com/3dstuff/integ3.jpg Hover mouse over them if using IE 6 to enlarge, Any ideas in general, Cheers Aidanodr
