delsol161
here's and interesting question... in my owner's manual for my del sol, it lists top speen for each trim type in 95 (even though i have a 94). S = 3rd gear, 92 mph. Si = 3rd gear, 85 mph. VTEC = 3rd gear 82 mph. WTF? hahaha, i feel like i missed something. can someone please explain this to me so i feel less like a retard? thanks
SexyH22
they have different gear ratios, and different max power points at different RPMs. it just varies from engine to engine and tranny to tranny.

hellyeah!!
the s model is geared for lots of m.p.g and the vtec model is geared for acceleration. does the vtec and s model have diffrent top speeds is what i am wondering? you would think the vtec would be higher, but the gears are lower. does it just have a really tall 5th gear? BigBirdSucks
while I haven't topped mine out, the VTECs have a short 5th gear as well. so, theoretically, an S could have a higher top speed, but I don't think it has the power to get there.
SexyH22
i know that the Si tops out at 122, if that helps.
xxscaxx
b16 cuts out at 125-6. like bigbird said, the S MIGHT have a higher top speed but it will take you about 4 hours to get there. it was hard enough hitting 100 when i had the s engine.
