spliffsta Posted May 24, 2004 Share Posted May 24, 2004 Hey guys... as the topic title says... I just bought a 01 'lude wit 63k miles on it. The guy who I bought it from said it had no mechanical problems from the time he bought it.. but there are some things which seemed strange... and I just wanted to see if it was normal with your preludes as well. 1) suspension: I know its a sports car and suspension has to be a little stiff but jeez.. this is stiff as concrete... I mean the car hasn't been lowered (as i was told) so i'm assuming its still stock... but when i go over small bumps it feels like I really 'jumped the tracks' or went over logs of wood... and there is a clunking sound that comes from the back side sometimes when I go over bumps... I dont know if this is how its 'supposed' to ride.. or if my shocks/struts are just bad... 2) vibration: like when I start the car... the car 'vibrates' like if you get out and look under the car.. you can see the catalyic converter and the whole exhaust pipe shaking... and as a result this makes the whole car like shake... I really don't know much about preludes... so if you guys can help me out.. that would be great... OH, and one more thing... do you guys know any good sites online where I can get prelude parts for a reasonable price... before my prelude.. i've been an accord fan... and i found some great sites for its parts... but so far nothing for the prelude.. thanks! Kastigir Posted August 29, 2004 Share Posted August 29, 2004 Suspension is very stiff in those cars. The engine shake, I would have your motor mounts looked at. Even if that's not the problem they're usually made with cheap rubber, and replacing them with urethane is a good idea. Preludes are fun cars.
