Honda96101
I have a 96 civic Dx coupe with a vtec motor has a single over head adjustable cam and I need to know how to time it It was running before but would bog down at 3000it rpm and I think the problem is that the lower wires on the o2 sensor got ripped out and I think that is the cause but I need to k ow how to time it correctly for the adjustable cam plz help
James Matteu
Set it to 0 degrees. Follow the Helms on setting Cam and Crank to TDC. Change those HO2Ss and then let your OBD2 ECU advance or retard timing to optimize fuel efficiency and performance. This is why there is no rotational adjustment of the distributor, the ECU decides on each computational cycle when to fire and bases this on input from your sensor array. Adjustable Cam Pulleys come into play with boost, alternative fuels (anything other than pump gas), aftermarket Cams, etc.
