rajtp
Guys I have a 98 accord My mechanic says I have a lot of carbon in the EGR pipe. It may take a few hundred to clean it up and possibly would need replacement My question to you folks is if this is really necessary. I don't get terrible mileage (about 24 highway) and don't want to spend few hundred on a car that's only valued at a few thousand now (160k miles on it). If you think this will improve my mileage by 3-5 mpg, I may do it. If I don't fix it, can this bite me bad in the long run? Thanks
airjordan223
Its not really necessary. EGR is only really effective when you're at idle and not using power.
