barry.malarkey
My '91 Civic Wagon will go through any snow the recent Minnesota winters have dished out, but it's awful clunky when I'm letting off the clutch or giving it gas from a coast and it's recently started to make a rumbling sound whilst accelerating at highway speeds. So, two questions: 1. Is it OK to drive with the 4WD system disengaged? 2. Any ideas on what's causing the clunk or rumbling? The manual describes how to disengage the 4WD system for towing, but does not state if it's OK to drive in that state.
Blizzard
No. If it were an automatic, you'd be fine. The noises are probably nasty things going on in the transmission. I'd guess it probably needs to be replaced.
barry.malarkey
Well THAT'S not what I wanted to hear... Thanks for the info, though. Not many people seem to know anything about that 4WD system.
