fifty9singlecab
I have had my Prelude for some time now, It has 198,000 miles on it and here recently when I stop my A/C stops cooling and when I start going down the road it's get cold. It had R-12 in it until last week and I added R-134 because I thought it may have been low. Thanks for all the help, Brad
crxtacy
does the condensor fan come on ? your fans should be blowing when the a/c in ON. Did you mix the r-12 and r-134 ?
fifty9singlecab
Yes my fans are blowing and yes I did mix them but the freon I used said it could be mixed with R-12. I had a shade tree mechanic tell me today that a compressor will do that if it has wear and tear on it. My car has 199,000 miles on it. I think I will spend the $150.00 and get a rebuilt one from flea bay.
Ben.
Whoooa. Mixing refrigerant is a no-no, period dude. There's a reason they quit putting R12 into cars dude. It's not safe.
red_lude01
did you happen to convert the r-12 to r-134a w/ the retro fitting kits that are made for older cars? thats a def. no-no mixing the freons
fifty9singlecab
Yes I used the change over kit, and I did mix freon. I have a rebuilt compressor coming so I will have 134a only in it.
