90 civic - bad ecu???

im working on a 4-dr automatic 1990 civic lx. my check engine light has been going on, either when im going uphill or trying to accelerate quickly. i checked for what the error code was and it was a single flash....o2 sensor (if the manual im using is correct). i dont notice any change in performance and the lightt resets whenever i turn the car off..... stays off until i go uphill or until i bury the accelerator. i dont know if its true but ive been told that the light usually stays on until it is reset. so is it a bad ecu or is my o2 sensor bad. any help would be appreciated

it will kick on when you put the pedal down because the O2 sensor is picking up too much gas that has not been burnt or something along those lines.

 

in other words just change the O2 sensor and the light should go out.

Change the O2 sensor, reset the ECU, and the light will go out.
