eyrmx001
Hi people I live in the U.K and own a prelude 2.2vtec H22A 4WS 1995,the problem being that the abs light stays iluminated all the time.Ive disconnected the battery for the reset to work and still no joy.Ive also had it to the dealers and they can find no apparent fault. The car has new discs and pads all round, the ABS still works. But there is a dense click noise when the car starts moving,of which before this the light is de-iluminated.It sound as if its coming from the driver footwell area, can anyone shed any light on the solution or root of this problem????? Many thanks Markmotherfunker@blueyonder.co.uk
cranny
when your ABS brakes engage under hard braking , your pedal should get rock hard , and your car will make noises that simply shouldnt come from underneath a car , clicking and grinding noise. if i were you dude , take it off the car , go get a proportioning valve off a non ABS lude(if theres such thing , if not an accords Pvalve will work). ABS sucks ass anyways. other than that , start replacing very exspensive parts one by one till you find out what it is , cause thats the only way. eyrmx001
Thanks for your reply.Sounds like it could be an expensive journey, replacing parts etc.don't think thats the road i want to go down. But binning the abs sounds like a good solution, its just one of those things when you want everything to be in perfect working order on your car,so you know when you get up in the morning and look out the window and look at your car and think"Well there is'nt one thing wrong with my car".Peace of mind and satisfaction, never mind.Cheers mate..... Motoriety
I suspect that this person who posted this forum comment has already found a solution by now. I thought it would be a good idea for me to describe my experience recently with a similar problem in the ABS department of my 1996 Prelude Type S regardless. It turns out the dashboard light came on and stayed on because of a short in the ABS electronics. The system may still be working or may work intermitently. You need to find someone who specialises in ABS systems in general, the person I found actually told me that he would not be in business where it not for Hondas. Thats really quite disturbing. If enough people have this problem maybe Honda should be doing something about it! But basically if you have this problem you are definitely not alone. In my case the mechanic replaced the ABS computer, this cost me $350.00 New Zealand dollars. My suggestion is that you have a diagnostic run on your cars ABS computer. There may be up to 7 seperate computers in your car so make sure they only diagnose the ABS one. Once the diagnostic is complete then you will know what is wrong and how to proceed. The diagnostic shouldn't cost much, it cost me around $60.00 NZD. Your Honda dealer in your local area should know a good ABS mechanic. Hope this helps someone out there.
