Buying S2000

My first question is I want the ap1 motor because its still kicking to 9,000 rpm. Where as the ap2 redlines around 8k rpm. So i am planning on like a 2002-2003. So am I correct that the ap1 has a better motor? Also I'm just curious if I do get one from those years can i take the new headlights and taillights and put them on those years? And thirdly I am a big into domestic performance but just got into the honda scene last year so Im not to familiar on what would be the best setup for a car like this. I bought a 2000 honda civic and loved it. But know I want something I can take to the track and really enjoy the corners, etc. I was curious if anyone had some good ideas for performance setups on the S2000? Im looking for all ideas from major performance setups to low/mild setups, the setups can be for the track and the street. I just need a little help getting started. Thanks.

This is what I am looking to do. I want to buy an s2000 for road courses, but also drive every so often on the street. Would it be better to get a 2000-2003? or 2004-2009?
