So when people call bullcrap and waste everyones time, do they usually give a reason or do they just want people to know their there. I am actually using this site as a source of information, not to be ignorant. If I want ignorance ill go visit my inlaws.

if you really think I'm ignorant about Hondas then you have A LOT to learn. an aftermarket air intake isn't going to get a gain of 10 whp on a dyno.

Actually, that's not so far-fetched...It may be possible to gain 10 hp with the addition of a cold-air/ram-air intake. He didn't specify whether the guy had made previous improvements to the engine. My uncle saw an increase of 8.28 whp after purchasing an intake, however the engine was fully dressed. Now if you're talking a completely stock engine with an intake, yeah it's impossible...you might see 3 on average(if that), but when both ends are tweaked on an all motor setup I would imagine that you would possibly see a full 10.

But until you get anywhere close to an all-motor setup, I wouldn't even bother with the intake...especially not a cold-air. Save your money for now, keep the dough and spend it on audio equipment or something more relevant to your future. No one will ever know you have it and you will see only minor improvements. Sorry if that isn't what you wanna hear.

And to everyone else keep in mind I was only trying to rationalize his statement, I'm not saying that anyone is wrong or that they are talking out of there ass. Just merely that his statement was completely open-ended, which, under assumption could seem like BS....

anyone with any real work done to an engine will know what intake to get.

on hondas its very rare to get 10 hp with an intake

you can feel the difference but i think its just in my head

you probably gain about 3whp with any intake

my friend on the other hand has a 01 WS6 Trans Am Ram Air and his crap comes with about 350 stock..he put a intake and that thing probably gained a good 50hp...since its a ram air...this could be true

a WS6 won't gain 50 hp from a ram air intake.....it has a ram air intake STOCK.

ya but his stock ram air had like a huge plastic thing covering the air from coming directly to the throttle body..we ripped al that out so now he has better air flow

i was exaggerating about the 50hp but u could feel the difference unlike on hondas

To say that an intake won't gain any horsepower is just stupid. I've seen various dyno tests in Super Street, HCI, etc, where they have tested different intakes vs. stock on a dyno, and on the same car. There are small horsepower gains from an intake which the AEM V2 is the most. I think it is around 5 hp on a car that already has headers and full exhaust. So an intake will give some power but not a lot.

it's were you measure how mmuch horsepower you have. also there's dyno tuning which i would think is you tune it t the rpm's and such. you try to pull as much hp outta of it you can using the dyno changing the air fuel timing all that.
