DrumProdigy83
Hey guys, like a lot of you (I'm guessing) I love the HID xenon look the luxury and sport cars have and want my car to have that same look. I've tried some xenon bulbs but they only seem to last about 2 weeks before they burn out (surprisingly my high beam xenons have lasted for almost a year already). I heard that you can just get the Acura TL headlamps with HID kit and hook it right into an Accord of the same year. Is this true? Any of you have success with any xenon bulbs? FYI I spent $20 for a pair of xenon bulbs on Ebay lol (cheap) - the low beams blow out, the high beams last a year without a single problem. OK that's all, thanks for your help guys. DrumProdigy83
Nevermind this post, the Acura --> Honda exchange won't work. I just bought a HID xenon kit tonight anyway so it doesn't matter anymore lol. I don't think xenon bulbs are the way to go, the "good" kits come with ballasts and stuff and are generally a couple hundred dollars. Bulbs are easy to replace though, and the $10 it costs to replace them every few weeks might be worth it short term, but long term I'd just go for the real HID kits... DrumProdigy83
What do you mean?? Accords use reflectors not projectors. Projectors are used in luxury and sport vehicles (new Acura TL / RL, BMWs, Mercedes, Ferrari, etc). I know xenon kits should cost a few hundred dollars, include a ballast, and should be 4300K (higher temps just change color... luxury cars use 4300K). I just bought some on Ebay, hopefully it isn't one of the cheap ones.... If you want me to link you just let me know, he's apparently selling 6 other sets. car_lost
im not 100% sure, but i believe that 98-2002 accord uses a 9005 bulb for the low beam. if so, just search for a 9005 HID kit and you'll be good to go. if it's a different ublb number, just find out what it is and search using that. the '99-'03TL hid's are D2R (that is the bulb number). it wont fit directly into the accord healights. and a little more HID info: -all cars come stock with 4300K bulbs. the higher in number (6000k, 8000k, etc.) you go, the lower the light output. -there is reflector and porjector HID's. all cars that come stock with HID are either D2R (reflector) or D2S (projector). -DO NOT touch the HID bulb with you bare hands, the oils and dirt and etc. in your hands will GREATLY DECREASE the life of the bulb. if you have any questions, let me know and i'll try to answer them. DrumProdigy83
I think the low beams are 9006 and high beams are 9005... All your other info is correct lol. I just get scared at the quality of the kits and bulbs... price is not necessarily a projection of quality, even if you spend a couple hundred or ::gasp:: thousand dollars on these kits. I think the best way to go about buying a xenon kit is to read up on the facts of the bulbs and types etc etc. Don't rely on price is all lol. DrumProdigy83
http://www.sounddomain.com/memberpage/396534/8 I got my xenons in today - Denso/Philips kit... they are super super bright. I am going to have to angle them downward somehow... blah. I love how they light everything up but they are aimed too high I must be blinding every driver on the road. I heard that the higher the temperature the lower the light output (more dim). The temperature also represents the color of the bulbs. 4300K is what luxury cars have. Some go up to about 5000K I think but any higher than that and they get real blue / violet and don't illuminate as much. 8000K is way too high as is 10,000K. My xenons are 35w each and 4300K, for reference. My original halogens are probably 3400K and about 55w I believe.
