When i got the civic, it was supposed to be my chicks car. it ended up being mine, the problem is i want a manual trans. is it worth the effort to swap out the tranny for a 5 speed? has anyone done this? what do i need and how much can i expect to spend?

did an auto to manual conversion on my crx a while back... but since it appears you have a newer civic, might as well just get rid of it and get a manual.

I am looking to do this as well. I think it's worth it if you do'nt go buying brand new stuff and you go with a cable clutch which to me is a better clutch setup anyway, you can adjust it to where you want. All you need is pedal setup(junkyard will have most this stuff.) I would get a new clutch cable, new clutch set,(clutch disc, throw out bearing, pressure plate) Flywheel and tranny. If you want to do it right I would get a lightened flywheel since you already have all this crap off the car, axels, stage 3 clutch, and most importantly an ecu out of a 5-speed car(but, you can still use the one you have but there's a connector you have to bind together so the car doesn't think it's always in park and won't move.

the stage 3 clutch is made of a thicker more durable material... ceramic in some. this lasts longer, is worth purchasing and is cheaper then buying the whole oe clutch assembly and buying just the 6 puck ceramic clutch disc and I never said that 127 hp needed a stage 3 clutch but since it's already apart and he's planning on moding it.. he might as well.

6 puck is even too much, just get an OE style clutch.

"stage 3" you'll have to rev higher before you can slip, and your leg will cramp after driving a while.

it's a personal preference. I have one in my jetta and it's a only about 105 hp. I like the higher rpm slip. I don't like slip at all but a stage 5 is a little much for street and I don't feel like having to chirp the tires everytime I pull out.

way to flame... this thread was over when the guy said, "Thanks, Ricer" yea..that would be me.. and I like to mention stages becAuse some people don't understand things like 6 puck clutch disc and differnt materials like ceramic and bi-metalic clutch pads.... if you want to get technical we'll get technical but there's no need to flame... aim it towards someone else.
