topnotch
Hi everyone, i just have a fast question about an intake. So far i have bought everything for my honda myself. but for my birthday my step-dad went out and got me an intake for my civic because i didnt have one (i was about to get one but he didnt know). Its some no name pipe and filter but i put it on to be nice; anyways, i put it on and theres only one port and im sure its for the computer sensor . but now that its on there is just 2 vacuum lines that are not going into it because theres no ports for them- so there just sitting there...i would like to use this one because it was "free" so if any one could help, thx. Speedy88
You dont really need them cuz there still getting air as long as you didnt plug them..i would make some holes abit smaller for them so there nice and snug so they dont fall out..Thats what i would do anyways
topnotch
What did you mean by making some holes smaller?
Speedy88
ok..take the drill bite and find the size of your vacum lines (match it up..so there the same size..then go one size smaller..so it snugs the vacum line up in the intake tube so they done come out easy
topnotch
ok, so you mean drill 2 holes into my intake (which only has one already for the sensor) the one line is metal and goes right into the top of the block.
Speedy88
yeah for the 2 vacum lines..just make sure the holes are a bit smaller then the lines so it fits snug..

BigBirdSucks
don't drill your intake. what year is your car? edit: saw your sig. I'm not quite sure how your intake sensor would work. I haven't really done much with an OBD-2 car. one tube should go from your valve cover to your intake tube though.
SexyH22
one tube should go from your valve cover to your intake tube though. yeah, and if you dont want to use the vacuum lines, just buy a little filter thingy, i forget what there called, and stick thta on the valve cover. but it is easeist to just connect them. topnotch
what year is your car? its a 99ex - it should say under my post if its working. lol, oh ok you saw it.
markasdunc
I have a 94 EX and I bought some offbrand intake too. All i had to do was take out all the stock crap and replace it with the new. Its not too hard. May be different on a 99, just saying what I did.
topnotch
yea, i know its not hard. its just the fact that it was a cheap intake missing some holes and i wanted to find a way to use it with out having to buy one. (since it was free) sry if i sound cheap -but tuning is all about getting the most performance out of what you got.

topnotch
really?
civicplaya20
Yes really, when I first started tuning my car I didn't have much money and I had to do everything myself. So I went on ebay and bought a cold air intake (no name) for like 30 bucks and it was pretty much the same thing as yours only one hole and the 2 vacuum lines were just there. I used that for a little bit and it was alright (by the way I have a 97 civic ex, just the same as your car), but then I found the intake I really wanted which was the AEM V2 cold air. It had all the ports, installation was still extreamly easy and it's crazy what kind of a difference it made, power went up, sound became deeper. In my opinion it was a good way to spend $250. So if you can afford it then get another intake with a name brand, it's just better all the way around.
topnotch
Since yours is a cold air and it has the extension, does alot of junk build up in the filter when it rains or when you go down a dirt road? (I heard some cars have that problem- then some are a little more well protected) what do you think about our gen. But anyways, you guys are right, im just gonna buy a nice aem or some other real intake so i dont have to mess around with this apc crap.>_< THX again for everyones replies. civicplaya20
It doesn't if your careful about what your doing it doesn't get stuff in it. You just can't go threw the rain and floor it all to hell because then it will get stuff in there. About our gen I love it, everyday I am finding out more things to do and different ways to make it faster and look better. I personally don't have much of a taste one way or the other in JDM or ricer, but I love knowing I have a ton of things I am able to do with my car.
