Things to watch for when buying a civic.

Hello all im new to the forums. Im in the market to buy a civic and thought I'd get a little feedback about what to watch for when buying one. Currently I drive an AE86 but alas shes moving on in her years, and as much as I'd rather not Im kinda forced into the situation of having to sell. So I've decided on getting a civic. I do like the 2 door 1995 models and the 2 door 1999 models as well. What are things I should be looking out for when purchasing one? Ya know beside the usual smoke rising from under the hood. Thank you for any info you can provide me. Also if you wouldnt mind listing personal preferances or past experiances with these 2 models that would be great.

if u plan on getting a 99-00 model, try and find a si. i recently bought a si this past year and it has done nothing but good for me. when you test drive the car, while the salesman isnt in the car, gun it and shift hard. just so u know what it can do and if u totally want it. also if the motor has close to 100k the timing belt will need to be changed, and may need to change the rotors. when i got my si i needed to change out the rotors and timing belt. also dont buy anything from a old russian man named Cacar. becasue he sold my mom a accord and the tranny dropped a week into having it. but thats just about it. ohh and look around til u find the price. good luck bro

All i can say is test drive a couple of them. Try to find one with nothing done to it and owned by an older person. They are the best ones to get. I'm telling you to test drive a couple becuase you dont want to get one that has had the hell ragged out of it. i know a lot of people who have civics beat the hell out of there car. Rip every gear, redline everygear when not nessesary. So all i can say is try to find a one owner adult owned civic. Its usually the ones with some kind of upgrade that have had the hell ragged outta it.

trust me man, you dont want a ragged out car.
