as the title says.. my trunk rattles! i got a bandpass box with 2 12" rockford punch DVC's... when i turn on my music...its really "Bassy" but i think thats due to my bandpass box. after i got the box, a friend of mine told me i should have gotten sealed! he said seald boxes sound more nicer but the guy who sold me the box said bandpass is more "bassy" whats the diff???

anyway.... so yeah, my trunk rattles. i heard that if i dynamat my trunk, my car will still rattle. it usually stops rattling for most other cars but not my TL...at least not my year TL. my cousin dynomat his TL (same year as mine) and he said it still rattled but its better than not dynomatting... is this true? should i still dynamatt my car?? i went shopping around for dynamat and they're pretty expensive. the door kit is like 50 bucks for a pair of doors. how much money should i expect to pay if i want to do just my trunk?? around 80-100 bucks?? :(

go to wal mart and pick up about 4 cans of rubberized undercoating. remove all the trim panels in your trunk (i prefer to remove the whole trunk lid) then spray the inside metal. that should stop the rattles. it helps if you have a second car, because you want to give it enough time to dry. i would recommend 2 days.

the sound quality in sealed or vented/ported boxes are much better then bandpass. bandpass manipulates the sound waves to make them only come out at the tuned frequency. this makes that frequency about +3db (maybe more). but the lows and higher sub bass get cut.

hmmm...been a long time since somebody replied on this thread..but

i'm having kinda the same prob with my civic. i have the stock system in it too!!! its not my trunk though, or my tag (i put some foam behind it a lil while back)...the prob is somewhere under the rear 6x9's. i already went to all the screws and nuts but that didn't help much. the left speaker is rattleling like a mo fo! pissing me off. and i'm about to get 2 12's in a couple of weeks. i don't wanna sound ghetto!

like i said, remove all the plastic panels and spray the backs of them with rubberized undercoating. some people use spray on bedliner for pickups, but that stuff isnt as thick and it costs more too.

the good thing about spraying all the panels is that it makes your car extremely quiet. you can turn off the music and drive as fast as you want and not hear wind, road, or engine noise.

this "rubberized undercoating" what does it look like when you spray/paint the trunk? is it something you spray or paint?? can i apply it and keep my trunk empty (take out the carpeting or the trim panel) to dry as i drive it or no?

it has a black textured look. you remove all the panels and carpeting and spray behind. you can drive it with the panels removed. i drove my explorer for 3 days with the panels removed.

okay, do you know exactly what i should look for when i go to walmart? what brand should i pick up? will it say the word, "rubberized undercoating" on the can or bottle?
