itsme
I'm looking for a pure performance header, I'm not familiar with the good brands and I could use a little help. I'm putting the b16a sir2 into my civic and I'm just doing a little research ahead of time. So any help is welcome.
S14Silvia
kamikaze worked well on my b16 swapped crx, few clearance issues, but i hear those are only with the crx. also look at jun, a bit pricey but one of the best.
..SSR..
Jun is far from the best. DTR SMSP HyTech are some very good headers. All will have to be ordered as they don't make any for 1.6L.

I couldn't see paying so much for a header. With the price of those brands, why not just save for a turbo.
..SSR..
If you want power, you have to put out the money.
S14Silvia
but a turbo will net more power
..SSR..
So. Turbo cost more and has lag. Too much power and/or lag on a road course isn't bad. If he is actually drag racing, then unless he really builds his tranny and suspension, he can run just as fast all motor.
S14Silvia
So. Turbo cost more and has lag. Too much power and/or lag on a road course isn't bad. i believe you meant isnt good, if so then read on, if not then stop here. usually i agree with you, but here you are wrong. a properly sized turbo will have very little lag. turbo "lag" is only effective in a small range of the rpm band, and on a road coarse you arent in that rpm band anyway. If he is actually drag racing, then unless he really builds his tranny and suspension, he can run just as fast all motor. equal suspension mods and tranny mods, a turbo car will walk away from a built motor. think about it, the turbo is cramming more air into the combustion chamber then a built motor will ever be able to pull in alone. ..SSR..
In road racing you are all over the RPM range. Usually in the mid-high range, where lag is at. When exiting a turn you don't want to have no power, then all of a sudden have power and no traction, losing acceleration and adding understeer. Equal suspension and tranny mods with the same amount of power (FI can have a little more power) the N/A car will win.
optional187
what? turbo lag happens in the lower rpm band, not the mid-high range. like s14silvia said, lag isn't really that noticable with a properly sized turbo.
S14Silvia
what? turbo lag happens in the lower rpm band, not the mid-high range. EXACTLY! with a PROPERLY sized turbo, lag has little to no effect. if you try to put a turbo like a t4 you'll have lag, put a bb t28 on a 2.0 liter and i get full boost by 2800, so you're saying i'm the range below 2800 on a road coarse? i should hope not. Equal suspension and tranny mods with the same amount of power (FI can have a little more power) the N/A car will win. key word: "same power" you wont get same amount of power out of a n/a motor as you will a turbo one. even then a turbo car will produce more torque, so faster off a line, and you said it more power, so in the top end the turbo car still wins... stuckmofo
n/a is a waste of money. I think n/a is like putting more power in the motor than it can take over time. F/I when maintained and not abused will last longet and is far more efficent. everything should come stock turbo.....its just gases that would go to waste anyway..why not use it to make the car faster?
