Trepid Posted July 31, 2002 Posted July 31, 2002 I was wondering if the oil on the side of my engine was bad enough to constitute a valve cover seal replacement... I haven't smelt any oil and I am not usually low on oil when I get it changed, so just wondering what youses thinks on the matter
LSter94 Posted August 1, 2002 Posted August 1, 2002 I'd just go ahead and change it. It's really not that much work and leaking oil always leads to more problems...
EGRacer Posted August 3, 2002 Posted August 3, 2002 yea trepid that is probably ur problem and i agree LSter to go ahead and change it cause it better to be safe than sorry.
Toda Party Posted August 17, 2002 Posted August 17, 2002 clean off the valvecover and see if it continues to leak. from the pic it looks like it might be the cam seal and not the valve cover gasket. cleaning it and watching where the leak comes from will tell where its coming from
hondafreak Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 have to agree...find it out as fast as possible...leaking oil is a bad thing unless you've drop some oil while refilling..
optional187 Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 WOW...this is quite possibly the worst case of "thread from the dead" yet.
hondafreak Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 i know, I replied to it and couldn't find the "delete button"
SIR_VTEC Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 Trepid: Toda Party is right its your Cam seal that is leaking that's what i had to replace on my integra last week because it was leaking there...also you may want to check out your waterpump....also be sure to always check ur oil level...thats how i blew my motor in my crx haha not cool...but yea just replace your cam plug for now and clean it down with engine degreaser and if it continues to leak replace the valve cover gaskets and while ur replacing that you may as well replace the sprak plug grommets
VR17 Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 you know.. he probaly did fix the problem TWO YEARRS AGO!! >_<
SIR_VTEC Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 i just noticed that hahah good eye VTracer hahaha
Mercutio Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Yeah, hes most likely solved this problem by now...'cause ya know, 2 YEARS is only a small amount of time in which to change your oil...
optional187 Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 i say read post dates..and never ignore a oil leakage problem. and on that note...nobody reply to this thread EVER again.
