Boostinteg
What is the best motor swap for a ls teg? I was thinking of turboing her somewhere down the line so would the gsr motor be the best?
..SSR..
No, just turbo your stock engine.
Boostinteg
Is vtec better for turbo? or not. I'm new to hondas and acuras but ive been in the dsm world a while.
..SSR..
Yes and no. You make more power up high just because of the second cam profile. You also lose power from the valve overlap. Just turbo your engine. Also read up on VTEC, it's not as impressive as everyone thinks it is.
optional187
i want to hear about your dsm.
Boostinteg
1g 93, 6 bolt motor, 4 bolt rear end. 20g, fmic and all supporting goodies. Last time out ran an 11.9 on a slipping clutch. Shes down for repairs. So ur saying just stikc with the b18b and turbo that? Just from readin charts it says taht the b18c1 has 30 more hp and it has lower comp ratios too. Lower comp ratios are better for boost if im not mistaken.
Mercutio
The B18B has a lower comp. ratio and a higher displacement. Resleeve, port & polish, go nuts.
..SSR..
If he has a good engine, then he should just build it. No need to waste a good B series as he doesn't know what he even wants which means he doesn't plan on racing.
optional187
i'm sure he knows what he's doing since he used to have a turbo motor, granted it was turbo from the factory...he did mess around with it. 20g is no joke. 11.9 1/4 doesn't sound like he's racing? sounds to me like he built the crap out of his dsm and used it often. imo, just keep your money for more mods/maintanence for the dsm. do a few things to the integra if you want, but i wouldn't waste a bunch of money on turbo'ing it...........unless you plan on using your 14b, stock 1g sidemount, etc for it? Boostinteg
Yea i have all the spare parts from the 1g, but the 1g is unreliable as it is now. Dont get me wrong she's fast as fawk when she wants to be but the teg is gonna by my daily driver now and i need boost lol. So the b18c1 has higher comp ratio than a b18b1? I read somewhere and it said the b18c1 has lower comp ratio, and vtec.
Mercutio
The C1 does have VTEC, but a it also has a higher comp. ratio: B18B(LS): Price: about 500 (<--now about 800, though you already have one) 1500cc (1.8L) DOHC 150hp/100trq 11.5 Compression Ratio Cable Tranny B18C1(GSR): Price: 3300.00 1797cc (1.8L) DOHC VTEC 180hp/129trq 10.6:1 Compression Ratio Hydraulic Transmission 180HP (From our very own forum no less)
Boostinteg
isn't 10.6:1 lower than 11.5?
Mercutio
Dammit! I was thinking of the B20. Oh well. B18 is used for the displacement, along with sometimes new pistons, etc...
optional187
b18b has a cable tranny? that doesn't sound right. i think thats the g2 integra b18...

..SSR..
I didn't pay attention that it was him with the supposed DSM. Don't waste a B series for a daily driver. Just turbo the stock engine. It can take more boost anyways.
optional187
yeah, dont waste your time with a swap. just use the left over parts from the dsm and make a leftover turbo kit. cheap, easy, reliable, relatively fast for a daily driver, and your still have money left over for the dsm. btw, you have to lower the integra
