civicsammy
hi ive jus bought a civic coupe it was made in 1994 but wasnt sold til 1996 but im asuming its still a 1994 car! thing is the magazines all say the civics from 1991-1995 are EG and EH's, and the 1995-2000 are EJ and EK's but on the identification plate on my car its says mines a EJ2 can some1 explain why it says this as its saying its a 1995 -2000 car, cos i need to buy some lowering springs but i cant figure out which ones to get! Mercutio
If the VIN says EJ, its most likely 96-00. Easier question though, is th hadlight one piece? Does it have a front grille?
carta79
I thought EJ2 was a 94-95 Civic coupe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I never owned a Civic.
Mercutio
Not sure myself. My 98 Civic Ex Coupe hsa a VIN with EJ8 in it. Just thought, maybe its a 92 coupe, and the 2 at the end represents it, where the EJ means coupe??????

civicsammy
cheers guys for your help! it doesnt have a front grill and it has seperate indicators! its like the black ones out of the fast and furious 1! its really annoying cos i need to order some springs! but i need to know the chasis type! does any1 have a list of the types of civic qand their chasis type!?? Mercutio
If it doesn't have a front grill, and the headlights aren't perfectly square (along with the rest of the car) than it is most likely a 92-95 coupe. That should help when ordering parts. Don't you have the car manual? or something that would help to discern the year? Like the sticker in the doorframe. ..SSR..
EJ8 = 96-00 Coupe EJ6 = 96-00 hatchback not sure on sedans It's not a 96. Read your fast and furious post. If it looks like them, it is a 92-95.
Mercutio
Good Call. Now all he needs is an Invader body kit, a huge-ass fiberglass wing from Wings West, Green underglow, some APC rims, and a harpoon gun and you've got yerself and F&F Civic! -_-
BuddySol
EJ2 is a 92-95 DX coupe. Most of the 5th gen. was either EG or EH (depending on model and trim level). Except the coupes, which were EJ1 or EJ2 (EX or DX respectively). 6th gen. Civics for the NA market were all EJ. Except the Si which was an EM. The Sols retained the EG and EH chassis code. Only the JDM models were designated with EK.
Mercutio
Woohoo. So 92-95 is 6th gen? And 96-00 is 7th?
optional187
92-95 = 5th gen 96-00 = 6th gen
Mercutio
That's what I thought. BUt this confused me 6th gen. Civics for the NA market were all EJ. Except the Si which was an EM. The Sols retained the EG and EH chassis code. Only the JDM models were designated with EK.
BuddySol
The only 5th gen Civic that were EJ, were the coupes. All the 6th gen Civics were EJ. (Minus the Si and JDM Civics)
Mercutio
Gotcha. That why SSR has the "It's EJ, not EK" in his info, and that's what compelled me to find out mine was an EJ8.
