Need help programming a new key

Hi recently I had lost my key for my 1999 Honda accord and I got a new key cut but now the key needs to be programmed, I heard keys can be programmed by putting them in the ignition and waiting for 10 minutes 30 seconds and repeating that process three times but when I look it up for Honda all I can find info on is key fobs and how you have to press the lock and unlock button during the process and mine is not fob, it's just a normal transponder chip key without buttons. So basically what I'm asking is can this process of waiting with key in the ignitionX3 work to program this type of key?  And if it does work can somebody please explain to me the correct steps to this process?
