our_rayos
I am also looking into a cold air intake system for my 97 vtec del sol, doing my research I decided to go with AEM but as I was calling a local reputable car import store for part availability the sales guy said the AEM cold air intake (part # 21-411 for 94-97 DOHC) would need a "hole" in it. He explained (if his shop installed) he would have to drill a hole in the pipe for proper install. This "hole" prompt me to hold off on the purchase with AEM. Here is my question. Anyone with an AEM cold air intake for 97 vtec had this similar "hole" drilled. Feedback welcome, don't flame hate, just want what you want, peace with "The Sun"

carta79
I have an Injen short ram and it performs very well. I put the stock filter cover on the intake to keep the comsumption of heat and dirt to a minimum. Also I don't like intake whistle/noise so the stock box keeps it quiet. In my opinion an intake is an intake. Short rams and Cold air intakes both have their advantages and disadvantages. Intakes don't make enough Hp to compare brands. I think Comptech has got the right idea with the "ice box". So Comptech is up there as well with the big names in intake designs. But I don't think they make products for the Del Sol. As far as Injen vs Iceman intakes I don't know because I've never seen someone dyno their car with just those intakes. (That would be a waste of time/money) I know that Injen intakes are dyno tested and carb exempt. So I personally would lean more towards Injen as a company. They seem to go the extra mile when developing their products. From what I've heard the Injen RD CAI would be a good intake to consider as well. BigBirdSucks
if you're not sure whether you're going turbo or N/A, don't do anything at all yet!
mrefish
An intake is an intake, there will be minimal difference either way. I just bought a cheap one, since its only like 2-3 hp anyways. Later on I'll probly put on some heat resistant paint, wrap it or some other nonsense. Just make sure to put a K&N filter on it.
