Random OBD port access question

I would like to check the CEL code of my 1995 Del Sol Vtec but the shop put the port and the plug in a silicone cover. How do I remove the cover or pull the plug?

Back story: Her clutch went out. Replaced Clutch Slave Cylinder: it feels great. Driving home from shop CEL goes on. Take her back. They say just need to reset, bring her back Monday. At home I read code (22: Problem in VTEC oil pressure switch circuit.)

Take her back, they "replaced VTEC oil sensor and rewired harness to sensor. Tech found engine computer not responding." And told me repair would cost so much it wasn't worth it. I bring her home, go to check code and ...
