however if you really want something rare, find a b18c4, those are hard to find even in japan.

That's probably because they weren't availible in Japan. Japan didn't use numbers at the end of the motor code except in the very first B16A1 from the CR-X. The closest you could find to the B18C4 (EDM 1.8 vtec motor from the Civic VTi, and the Aerodeck 1.8) is the B18C from the Si-G Integra, though both are the same spec as the B18C1 from the USDM 94+ GSR's.

Oh, and B16A2's are from the EDM 92-98 civic/Delsols, and the USDM 99-00 Civic Si, both of which where 160Ps/Hp. The 170Ps version was the JDM B16A from the 92-98 civic SiR/SiRII's.

are you sure the compression on a b18b is 11.5 that is kinda high for a ls motor.

The reason why i am asking is because i have a turbo ls and i just blew the motor and all i could find was a j spec b18b and i was wondering about the compression because of the boost and if i should install a block guard and a thicker head gasket and if the motor will hold up under boost.

I would say the compression on the USDM B18b is more like 9.2:1.

HP 142 @ 6300 RPM

Torque (lbs-ft)127 @ 5200 RPM

I don't think the B18b JDM motor puts out much more than this . I think the JDM version puts out like 145hp and has a 9.4 CR.

People probably buy B16B's so they can turn more rpm's. I'm new to imports, but V8 guys aren't afraid to rebuild their engines for the most part. Modifying your car isn't about swapping in a different engine just to get more power, some people actually modify the engine internally. I'm not against engine swaps, but look at the engine as a canvas to paint, not as a finished work.

its stupid because its too big of an engine to fit into such a small engine bay.

it gives you another 300+- lbs just into the front of your small civic. that brings the curb weight to 2400-2500 lbs or however much that thing weighs..and that much weight brings the power down and i think h22s should be in accords and preludes.

i think b18 or SiR b16 would be much better than h22.

What are you talking about,,??

H-series short block weghts about 122lbs,B-series shortblock weights about 104lbs and the d-series d16 short block weights about 100lbs..And the h-series tranny is only about 5-6lbs heavier then a b-series

The only that really weights alot on the hseries is the head,,It's about 10lbs heavier then a B-series..

A stock H22a in a hatch rips..I hate those shifter cables though..It would be better to run a b-series tranny on the h22 with some sort of adapter plate

you are full of crap, there is not that much weight difference. try doing a little bit of research before you make a fool of yourself, especially calling the swap stupid. in my opinion there is no better swap for the money, and the only people that bash it are the ones that get smoked!! my whole swap including turbo kit was under $3000 and my car did 13.8 @ 106 spinning into 4th... show me ANY other swap that can get you into 13's for that kind of money, and not to mention on slicks itll be in the mid 12's.
