1992 Honda Accord! I need help, please!

I have had my Honda since May of last year (not long at all). I purchased it from a used car lot and for the first seven or eight months, it didn't really give me any problems. Although, I did notice that the engine grew significantly louder. 8/10 times when I would put it in park, ithe engine would get very loud and begin changing between shifts until I'd turn it off.

Several months ago it broke down and I had it towed to a local mechanic. They replaced my starter and my distributor, costing well over $1,000. It ran great for several weeks, but recently it has been momentarily shutting off while driving or coming to a stop/light. I know it isn't the battery, because the radio/lights stay on. But the engine will literally just turn off while I'm at a light, so I put it in park, turn it back on, put it in drive and then it works again. This happens 5 to 6 times every time I drive the car. Also, it will start changing shifts very quickly on it's own and get jolty.

I really don't have the money to buy a new car...nor do I have the money to get it fixed. I don't know what to do. Any advice is greatly appreciated! (I'm a 20 year old college student...broke....I don't know anything about cars....go easy on me.)
