reo4ua Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 2001 civic lx 1.7l 5 speed. Very noticeable appears to be coming from engine or tranny. Speeds and slows with engine speed but doesn't do it all the time. Any ideas?
Jeff Collision Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 This could be a differential issue. The noise play, etc. It needs to repair this transmission and fix this issue. Until the differential is fixed you will continue to have this noise, and eventually it will break internally. This is the issue and need to fix.
James Matteu Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 That's a mighty specific diagnosis from a mighty vague description of a noise. 'reo4ua' has to realize we've never heard the noise ourselves and having narrowed it down to somewhere in the engine or transmission only eliminates the brakes, exhaust, suspension, so please get under the car or to try and find the source of the noise. The guys on Car Talk would probably tell you a growling sound from under the hood usually indicates an angry wolverine is trapped in the engine bay. So be careful.
