Trepid
ok, I have a pair of 12's in my trunk and I recently noticed that when I balance right the speakers hit but when I balance left they don't. I looked at them and they both seem to be working but don't know if that is just an effect of the air moving a non working sub. If this is a problem it has been there since I had the subs installed. am I crazy or what?
0verb00st
how do you have them hooked up to the amp? you should have them bridged mono.

0verb00st
that could be a very bad thing. theyve been known to mess up a lot of cars. you should rewire it bridged mono. what subs and amp are they?

0verb00st
i believe the JBL 600.1 is stable to 2 ohms mono (make sure you check first to be sure). your subs are 4 ohm SVC. this means you can wire them in parallel @ 2 ohms mono. not only will it sound better, but you will gte more power out of your amp so you can play your subs much louder. XScarAudio
is the amp bridged or stereo? here's a couple of things to test first of all 1. switch the rca's on your amp and see if the situation reverses. it is very easy to cut an rca doing a quick install. 2 if it doesnt change the situation, and you're in stereo, swap the sub/channel and try again. that will let ya know if its an rca or a blown channel or a sub. 0verb00st
i just realized what my last post said. there is no way you could have the 600.1 running in stereo. it's a monoblock amp. so either circuit city really messed up (running the signal off one channel), or your amp is stereo. if so then it should still be wired mono. but it is probably only 4 ohms mono stable. that means you should wire the subs in series to make an 8 ohm mono load. wire one sub's + terminal to the amp's + terminal (bridged. it will be labeled on the amp). then the - on that sub to the second sub's +. then the second sub's - to the - on the amp (and make sure it is the bridged -).
